Is the X-01 power armour not considered to be very good?

I only ask because I don't really see anyone wearing it other than me. When I first realised I learned how to make it, I crafted a set right away and saved up caps to buy the jetpack and calibrated shocks plans. I think it's a great looking PA set and has nice stats. But as I mentioned, I don't see other players using it.

So is there something I'm missing? I'm tempted by the hellcat or maybe union set, but what makes the X-01 not very popular?

I,m Level 1000+ and can build every power armor in the game but at the end of the day i stick with my excavator , Just for the extra carry weight , You really don't need any more protection than what the excavator gives you , There is very little in the game that can kill me lol

I used to use the X01 as one of my main character's power armors, because I think it has one of the best rad resistances of power armors and I was running Radiation Rumble and farming flux every chance I got. I ended up swapping to Hellcat for that character, but the X01 is quite a fine power armor.

I use T-65 mostly for the added armor, because physical damage and fire damage always seem to act like im a level 1 nube fresh out of vault 76. its infuriating how much damage i take. The only real strength i have is radiation and energy damage. if i have a mob hitting me with energy weapons and I am in a rad storm.. i am pretty much invincible. until fire or a gutsy hit me. then im pointless again.

Hellcats is pretty broken

End game you benefit from % damage reduction infinitely more than from raw numbers... basically 300 is the soft cap and it gets pretty low returns above that

Basically PA is all about the frame, that gives you MOST of the benefit... then what you throw on hardly matters

All pa is basically max rad resistance... you get to 90% and stop there in it... if you want more you need a rad suit (generally chinese stealth is the one of choice)

Bottom line is that having a solid PA build with the right perks and legendary perks is far more important than what set you are using. Simply being in PA is the advantage. Many players use excavator for the carry weight bonus the set gets. It has extremely weak stats but is perfectly fine to use. Up until recently i was using Raider PA and it is very low end stat wise.

All PA gets a 42% reduction to incoming damage and a 90% reduction to incoming rads. Slightly increased stats on "better" sets are not hugely noticeable in practical use due to the way the damage formula works.

The following applies for regular amour and also PA. Legendary effects that reduce incoming damage like overeaters, zealots and trouble shooters etc... are far better than slightly increased resistance stats.

I will be perfectly happy using my X-01 with good legendary effects for many years to come.

I use X-01 exclusively on my PA character but use different skins. For me it is the best middle ground as you can get it free, the mod plans can be easily obtained with caps and it has good DR and Rad resist.

As others have said too when your build is good the differences in the PA stats aren't big enough to make it worth upgrading. I have a full set of Bolstering with predominantly carry weight secondary effects and it works well for my build and play style.

Im using the X01 but i use a skin that i like more . so you just not might see that it is x01 .

I think X-01 is fine. I have a complete set with good legendary effects and I use it with no worries. Certainly one of the better free sets. The differences between some of these sets is very small. Until recently i was rocking around in a set of raider PA with good legendary effects. Raider is considered poop, but i had no issues with it with anything i did including SBQ, Earle and the new ultracite titan event. End of the day if you have a solid build simply being in PA is a huge advantage.

Also with PA skins it can sometimes be hard to know what set someone is using as some skins over ride the unique look of each PA set.

Yeah I've been tempted to use the hellcat for the built in extra resist but I've not yet been able to get the mod plans for it yet. I'm quite new to the game and coming from fallout 4 I just automatically thought the X-01 would be the best, but then kind of sad to see I'm the only guy rocking it most of the time when I'm playing. lol
