You don't own the land your Camp is on.

Just server hop and your Camp will most likely place on the next one.

There are many locations where Many players build their Camp. So, the player that enters that world first gets their Camp placed.

1st come,1st serve if you share a spot. With multiple camps you can active another camp ,server jump,or wait for them to leave then activate your camp .Makes multiple camps worth it

Thank you for helping but still a question in mind, how did the server lets me build a camp if someone already owns it, I've been there for several days?

I see what people are saying now, it's clear that every time you login, you had to get lucky that no one in the other server had the camp setup on your same coordinate range ahead of you or you'll get blocked if you get in to that same server address, if that's the case, you get compensated for another slot but you have to start again from the scratch. It looks like a roaming profile that carries everything you had in multiple mirrored world. Interesting but creates conflicts...Thank you all.

When you log out or drop off a server, that Camp spot becomes available to anyone who joins that world/server.

Servers will not let you PLACE your camp in a space occupied, or overlapping another player's CAMP , or other parts of the built environment.

If your camp is blocked on login, you have three choices.

1) Move your camp and rebuild. (DO NOT DO THIS unless you really want to move the camp location.)
2) Server hop hopefully the next random server you end up on will have that location empty.
3) Activate camp 2 and just use it until you can swap back to camp 1.

Some locations are very popular based on having resource collectors, a view, location, or because new players don't have much of the map unlocked so they don't see other places to build.

Each server holds up to 30 people and you randomly get placed on one every time you log into the game. So you'll need to hop to another server in this case til you find one where that spot is free.

Your camp is fine as long as you don't take the rebuild option. It will reappear whenever you're on a server with that spot free.

Best way to avoid this happening as much is to not build in popular spots. For example if you build near Duchess' Bar you'll get blocked a lot because every new player builds their first one near there because of the main questline.

DON"T MOVE YOUR CAMP!!!

Just server hop until the spot is free because you really don't want to keep rebuilding.

Just to confirm a few things.

With some games, when you create a character, you are assigned to a specific world, and that is your home forever. (or until you take special steps to move to a different one.) You always interact with the same people, and you "own" that specific spot of land.

FO76 takes a very different approach. Every time you launch the game. You are placed on a random Adventure server with other, random people. So it's possible that the gods of random put you on a server where someone else picked the same location to place their camp. So your camp cannot be placed.

The only time it's not random for you, is when you join a friend from the social menu. Then you are put on their random world.

Now to blow your mind. It is highly possible that the days you logged in and placed your camp. Some other new player was randomly placed on your server, and their camp was blocked because you had gotten their first.

With hundreds of thousands of characters and "limited" possible camp locations, it is impossible to say "this is my spot and nobody else can build here". If locations were able to be owned, a new player four years into the games life would never be able to place a camp.

When one of my camps are blocked, I take a moment to explore the other persons camp. See how they interpreted the terrain, what their build style is.

To expand on the "Don't move your camp" advice, it's because that rarely works. Supposedly you can save a blueprint of your camp then move it to another location, but I've tried it a couple times and unless your camp is very very small it won't let you place it in the new location. The game lets you build two camps (only one can be active at a time), you can buy more camp slots in the Atom Shop.

otherwhiles, if you got fallout first, you can start an private game, build up your base but thats not the guarantee that another player havent build his own base in the same area.just server hop or build at another place if you havent invest many times/materials in that base or open up another base slot.if an player just got an piece of your chosen area, you are not able to activate your base in there.as others told, serverhopping can solve this

I want the longcoat pretty badly but 50% of server hops someone has put their camp right at Charleston Station. I get it, great spot for a CAMP, but for the love of all that is holy, I hate everyone who has a CAMP there.

The different world maps are not identical, unbelievable. That has some side effects. If you place your camp near a map settlement, whats ok on one map is not ok in the next because it overlaps. Just jump server.
