Unarmed weapons chat
Hey there! I am currently rocking an unarmed build. I should point out I am full HP. (No intentions of going bloodied)
Main weapon : Anti-armor Deathclaw Gauntlet with 40% faster swing

I love this weapon! The damage is great and the swing speed is epic. Though I like to keep flexible so I am making weapons with different rolls.

I have the Unstoppable Monster with it's 246 damage but I hate it. It's swing feels way too slow after using the Deathclaw with 40% swing.

Lets start with the meat hook. Why is this such a popular choice? My Deathclaw gives 246 damage. The meat hook can't even push 150 WITH the extra hook mod. I rolled it a few times and not getting any decent rolls yet. It looks cool but it seems far lesser in damage.

Was thinking of trying to make some knuckles. It has more mod choices and with bleed damage it seems like it would be great.

:lunar2019piginablanket: Would like to hear some thoughts an opinions on different unarmed weapons. Considering a junkies cuz I'm always addicted to something and if I do it right it could pump some extra damage out.

i believe you sprint faster with something like the meathook

i'm being very very unsure here
i have an unarmed bloodied suicider build
i use a bunch of different unarmed weapons
i just feel meat hook and tambo feel a bit more.. faster
i think it's faster in swing speed and since that legendary card with explosive palm i prefer going for that smoother slapping style in getting splosives
try to compare:
sprint with different weapons
and just unequipped
you'll see a difference in speed

I can imagine how that would play and to get that roll would be awesome.
Bloody knuckles modded with spikes are fun.
Unstoppable monster is great too, no faster swing but you get stronger p.attack.
Moleminer's is great too, as it start with medium speed and can be quite fast with faster-swing-speed aswel.

The DCG and Meat Hook are bugged to allow both unarmed and 1 hand perks to work.

You could theoretically use iron fist and gladiator perks to get more damage, but in reality it may not work.

Maybe strength something like 3 martial artist, 3 incisor, 3x rank 1 of gladiators (30%), 3 iron fist (can't remember if this is 20% or 30%), and 3 blocker.

9x gladiators are 60% so by combining iron fist and rank 1 you get same/close in only 6 cards as rank 1 of cards is 10% with each additional rank only 5%.

Anti armour with any melee weapon is almost useless due to how it stacks, as you get a perk that already gives you 75% armour pen.

No idea about the meat hook myself I've never even seen anyone using it( I do believe that bug that made it use both 1h and unarmed was fixed a good while back, I have never tried it though), my go-to unarmed is the gauntlet from the settlers rep.

Is this actually a bug though? I only ask cuz lots of builds I've seen online are from up to a couple years ago and still use those perk cards. If you take away those cards there is almost nothing for unarmed builds.
I currently use them. I can say without them I'd be doing almost no damage. With these cards it still takes about 2-3 some times 4 hits to take something out.

Edit : NVM I am not using those cards!

I just tested out a Zealots (50% more scorched damage) Bladed Knuckles with 40% faster swing on some scorched, scorched beast 2 star, and my DCG still kills things faster. The damage from all over unarmed weapons are absolute BS. Hitting the 2 Star scorched beast with the knuckles was tickling it at around 120 damage. The DCG was smacking that thing for 240s. Both are medium speed with 40% faster swing.

Now, I am full HP and not bloodied so I am not expecting god tier damage but these numbers still seem low for other weapons. The meat hook I am not even going to bother with at this rate since nothing I do to it will make it better than the DCG.

Is the Bear Claw any better? I've only seen bloodied builds use it.

Now, as for the reason I don't just roll different DCG for different scenarios is simple...I cannot find the stupid DCG plan. Th RNG on this thing sucks and hates me and refuses to spawn.

Edit: Mole Miner Gauntlet is still under 200 with upgrade as well. Maybe my expectations for non-bloodied weapons are too high.

It is a bug. You'd have to go back through patch notes to find where it was supposedly 'fixed'. It came back sometime around The Pitt update.

What I don't know though is if it means they get a double boost from strength stat. Unarmed gets 10% and 1-2 handed 5% per point of strength. I don't know if DCG and Meat Hook get 15%.
