Stealing things from people's camps is quite... good
I've found it to be very lucrative and exciting. Tehnically, it's not stealing, it's about taking things from unlocked containers.

I don't think ordinary players realize how fun and lucrative that can be. Many people don't lock water purifiers, even big industrial ones, mineral extractors, collectron stations, armco ammo, chicken coops and many other things.

"Visiting" multiple camps you can quickly earn 1400 caps and take a ♥♥♥♥ load of valuable junk items, fertilizer, nuka colas, ammo, corn, tato and other stuff. (Corn, tato and mutfruit are used for making adhesive and explosives, or you can just sell them)

Basically, you don't need to do anything to earn caps, you just can steal stuff and sell.

I think I will write my first Guide on Steam and it will be about this subject. It will be called:

A Guide to Stealing From Other Players' Camps

Ordinary players are very aware of how easy it is to hit up every public camp on the server, and take items from the unlocked containers.

Because the community fostered a (mostly) welcoming atmosphere for new players. I'm level 270. I don't need 10 purified water, and a dozen crops for my personal use... But a new player might, so they're free to take what I don't need.

Even drop ammo for whatever gun they're using if I happen to see them arrive, and they have their weapon out.

If people arrive with their weapon out I assume they're trying to rob me at gunpoint...

My generosity disarms them, and then they get what they wanted anyways, so it's a net positive for all!

Not stealing if the players just let you :3 but hey by all means make that guide but if you want to truely steal off players well go about to the camps that do lock things down and get yourself a wanted level by unlocking everything. >:3

I lock what I don't want touched and leave the rest open for people to use. My camp is near the vault so I get a lot of low levels. I keep my popcorn, coffee, and garden open for them to loot up.

I leave my stuff unlocked so people can take a break from the slog. Grab water, food, whatever you need. The world may have ended in game but human kindness doesn't have to.

you should try the "harboring a wanted in your camp" scenario
total fun
hunters have to become wanted also to get to the wanted by pick-locking your door(s)

ah it's about the caps.. thought you were a gentleman thief there for a moment

quick caps: learn 1 serum recipe
easiest to make probably marsupial
super duper and you get a chance to make 2
bot vendors buy them for 480 each

These players don' t lock their containers so that travellers can fetch a drink or low level characters can pickup some items.

Sharing is Caring, as they say.

Yep, I started locking everything I own last year but what I do is things I plan to give away for free is placed in my vending machine with a price of 0 caps. This resolves an issue I noticed with high level players taking. I didnt place my camp by the Wayward just for all my resources to be looted by lvl 500+ players. Most dont bother to check my vending machine as they are out to steal and not out on a shopping trip to other camps.

Ive also dumped unwanted loot in the loot box at the overseerer camp by the wayward, usually I dump excess purified water and cooked food and liquors.

Definitely not stealing.

One of the best features of 76 CAMP building... Hospitality!

Nearly everyone who has played for a while has had a shopping day, a day they hopped servers or just looked obsessive visiting every available vendor selling their sought after item type. That costs caps. So there's crops, water purifiers, etc, that can easily be made less available by hiding your camp icon. When you stop through a player vendor's camp this gives you a means to instantly replenish your traveling costs, based on the consideration of your hosts. Making a camp that has a clear visitor area, bunk house, store, or restaurant is fun to make and fun to see. Don't forget free punch bowls and Nukashine kegs to offer guests a free drink/random warp out of your camp! Fertilizer grenades are great if you really wanna be a good guest, they will instantly regrow any crops you snag; toss one on departure so the green smelly cloud doesn't trail you out.

To all the players that enrich the game and community by being excellent hosts, thank you! Tip jar should definitely be an addition to the CAMP items but I hope buying ammo in the meantime will continue to suffice.

I had such a problem with people going into my camp and opening every door up and leaving it open then I come back to my home open and some times with NPC critters in the house attacking various structures inside. So I started locking the doors in my house and I had good luck with most people staying out but I had a influx of people picking locks and going in and the final straw for me was one guy that flipped my master switch that I put in to reset the vault-tec blinking lights on my porch when they get out of sync as well as making the wall mounted spot light work by cycling the power off and on. I lost out on probably an hour or two worth of sales with my vending machine powered down.

My response to this was to fill the punch bowl that is on my dinning room table for looks with vintage non-sugar free Nukashine. I had the pleasure of seeing some lvl 5 player break in drink from the bowl and started losing his mind on mic then he poofed away when he blacked out.

Desperate times require desperate measures, if you cant respect a lock then karma will get you one way or another. I just wished they would introduced wall and ceiling mounted turrets for us to build, I would so put turrets on the wall by my front door as well as turrets on the ceiling in my generator room.

On the crops, I have taken crops from other players camps I have the green thumb perk I think it is that gives me double the harvested crops and the times I have taken crops from other players camps was to repair damaged crops so I fix their crops for other people and get a little crop for myself. Ive also repaired security turrets in other players camps before I stumbled across. I have been in the game since the beta so I am drowning in resources so I dont mind fixing random things I come across just to fix it. It is also why people have voiced their pleasure on voice chat over my vending machine prices. Everything that doesnt buff your special stats is priced at 50% of the listed price. I also priced ammo at 1 cap per round for everything but energy ammo and 5.56 as a way to help low level players that might need ammo.

hmm just some remarks

imagine you just come out of the vault
what's the first thing you are looking for?

guess what? a nice hat and spiffy shoes
they probably don't even know what the vending machine looks like, so whatever

so i do a heart emoji and say come come
i drop 6-8 hats of the same (this is intended, they will come across other low lvls and they can offer those snazzy outfits as a token to gain friendship and form a cute team )

now: got rad-x? dump it before them
normal stims? throw it on the ground
plans? bury them with the 17 ultracite limb this and buzzblade there

also everything that weighs too much like mini nukes etc (let's keep it a bit devious for lore sake )
trying to set the record of overencumbering a new player exiting the vault

you know -just got this idea
would be hilarious to dump a bunch of empty frames everywhere

imagine 10+ lvls 2-3-5 going Edge of Tomorrow style overconfident to a mob

while that sounds fun, I couldnt do that cause I had 100 gulper innards from the moonshine event and when I cooked them my perk hit and I ended up with like 250 gulper innards which I nearly wiped out the vendor selling all the cooked innards.

What I do is I keep pristine prewar food that gives no rads and I sell them in my vending machine near the Wayward. That how ever is not sold at a discount I sell it for what its valued at cause it can be time consuming to farm 50+ pristine food packages. I like to think of all the vault dwellers just coming out finding my vending machine and realize they dont have enough caps to buy prewar food without rads.

can you steal my used cat litter?
Bobby Digital™ Nov 27, 2022 @ 2:09pm
i leave that stuff unlocked for the peasants to take whenever they want

i have to continuously go out of my way to buy unnecessary junk because i'm always at or near the cap limit, hence why i let the peasants take that stuff for free

Im at the cap limit constantly as well, but I still lock my stuff cause Ive seen way too many high level players taking everything. I keep my vending machine prices reasonably low to be beneficial to low level players as well as placing some items I dont want for free in my vending machine.

To keep from bouncing off my cap limit I have been buying up bulk scrap from the npc vendors and throwing it in my scrap box for a rainy day. Im only going to keep my first membership till the end of December after that I am not renewing it till I need to refill my stash box.
