Update Crash on Startup

I think it relates to the game starting in fullscreen mode - force it into borderless window via geforce experience or delete the "Fallout76Prefs.ini" in Documents/My Games/Fallout 76.
Changing it back to fullscreen via the ingame menu causes it to crash again on next startup.

It just works.

setting it to no full screen works but runs rubbish in wondowed mode for me, it loads, but is unplayable

i launched it then alt+tabbed and it didnt crash for me. i was getting black screens all day. even if i try to launch it now without tabbing it will crash. try to tab right after you launch it

Im not sure what the correlation is between tabbing and it not crashing but its worked 3 times for me now

Deleting the file "Fallout76Prefs.ini" helped me. After that, only check or set the desired settings.

it works but game runs like crap, it does not utilise your GPU 165fps to 41fps on a 3080 normally card details show in settings in resolution section but only using 40% of the GPU not 100%

Thanks worked for me, I'll have to work on settings now though a quick setup and now my fps tanked. Prob swap back to windowed..... :( Bugthesda UPDATE nah tried to launch again same again. Going to delete ini again and then update Nvidia before launch. Did what I said, got in and did dailys at least, at least it launched again after closing. Not great fps was ass, maybe next time they don't launch MUST LOG IN dailys at same time as patch :I

I can not even get into the game at, it just shows busy icon and will not load at all. New update sucks game doesn't load

The ini change doesn't work for me, and neither does the alt-tab trick. Still crashing windowed or fullscreen.

Delete the ini files and try launching the game, that fixed the instant CTD for me.
