5 Strength or Taking one for the team legendary perks for unarmed?
So I was wondering which of both is better for an unarmed build. Taking one for the team is 40% dmg, but as far as I red on the 76s wiki, 1 point of str adds 10% unarmed dmg. So aren't it 5 points of stregth (equal to 50% dmg) much better then, or I am getting it wrong?

I'm using hack and slash also, just wanted to know does 5 str elite give me more dmg % than taking one for the team, if it does, i's the much better choise, because you have those 50% dmg all the time + 25 carry weight. And yes, im at 15 str cap. I am talking about dmg here, not about place for more perk cards.

And I'm also asking, because I don't have place for both taking one for the team and legendary strength in my build.

5 strength is 50% more damage for you, but Taking one for the Team is 40% more damage for EVERYONE. As soon as two people are attacking the target, it's already worth 30% more damage than taking 5 strength.

iirc Taking one for the Team is a damage multiplier.

So 5 Strength is 50% more base damage. Taking one for the Team is 40% more TOTAL damage. Gotta get hit and have at least one teammate for it to work though.

Straight comparison, Taking one for the Team vastly outstrips 5 strength.

If you are melee you are probably at 15 strength anyway.

You could use the legendary perk to get 20 strength but that wastes 5 points for other perks.

Ideally you'd have 10 natural points and 5 legendary. This allows the 5 you'd normally have to be distributed to other SPECIAL. I normally suggest 2 legendary SPECIAL for 10 extra perk points for most builds as that is a sweet spot.

If you team a lot Taking One For the Team adds a debuff to whatever is hostile to you (hence why it is stronger) as long as you have a teammate, wherever they are. And as already mentioned that helps everyone around so is good for boss events.

I guess you are right, but 5str also adds 25 more carry weight.

To my knowledge the legendary won't bring you to 20, you're still limited to 15 max without buffs. My apologies if this is outdated. I went with strength, and mostly stat enhancements for a more casual experience while solo playing (the majority of my hours). Playing into 4k hours I don't intend to make another melee character and wish I'd gone with exploding palm or another fun-focused legendary card instead of some of the other stat bonus legendary cards. Strength is good to have maxxed for melee as that's your main stat. The others and your build beyond that is up to you, but the advantages of the high base strength can't really be replaced without constant temporary buffs which would still be better with the higher base strength.

Just my take on it though. If you're in teams constantly and ESPECIALLY if you've got a berserker build, go with the Taking One For the Team. Otherwise, strength.

Yes, just tested both of the legendary perks, and taking 1 for the team gives a lot more dmg, maybe because its multiplicative, so I'll stick with it, thank you all for the opinions.

strength is an additive bonus, it'll help but the more you have the less it makes a difference

taking one for the team is a flat 1.5x multiplier to any damage you do when something is aggroed on you (and your team too) its hands down one of the best legendary perks in the game as its easy to apply on the queen and earle
