Its about the only place PVP can happen and on the rare occassions at events where stray fire hit a player ( and that player has the choise to return fire). Get over it, its less than negligible. Workshop pvp is rare to begin with.

Just turn passive mode on. Then nobody can kill you. It asked you this at the start of the game early on

That's incorrect. When Pacifist is on, you can't damage anyone for any reason. Its great for events, since your stray fire won't damage others and endanger a shootout, but on Workshops it means, that the other player can start claiming your Workshop and start shooting you down, while you can't damage him at all (Pacifist).
the workshops are ffa

Exactly.

Pacifist mode only screws you over when PvP actually happens. lol

With it off, you're still basically a Pacifist anyways in that outside of specific incidents such as Workshops, no one can attack you unless you attack them first.

So there is really no reason to have Pacifist mode on.

Really outside of Workshops, the only time people target you is if you have a Wanted bounty.

From IMDb:
[Ponda Baba gives Luke a rough shove and starts yelling at Luke in an alien language which Luke doesn't understand]

Dr. Evazan : [explaining] He doesn't like you.

Luke Skywalker : Sorry.

Dr. Evazan : [grabbing Luke] *I* don't like you either. You just watch yourself. We're wanted men. I have the death sentence on twelve systems.

Luke Skywalker : I'll be careful.

Dr. Evazan : You'll be dead!

Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi : [intervening] This little one's not worth the effort. Come, let me get you something.

[Dr. Evazan shoves Luke across the room and pulls out a blaster]

Bartender : No blasters! No blasters!

[Obi-Wan ignites his lightsaber, wounding Dr. Evazan and severing Ponda Baba's arm]

Either light up your lightsaber or get out of the Cantina.

This is why monthly subscriptions with private servers are pay to win.

Reason :
The player killed you to take over your workstation and your loot.

Workstations are pvp zones so if you don’t want to die to another player stay out.

Who are they winning against on a private server?

By being able to farm all the Workstations with out being hunted by other players. That makes the game pay to win.

In what way? Maintaining a workshop doesn't achieve anything that I'd associate with "pay to win"... In fact maintaining a workshop is largely pointless.

There really isn't any need in claiming a Workshop outside of completing the Daily Challenges... and once you do you can just immediately leave the vicinity and if someone takes it... It's no big deal, you've already got the Daily completed and got the S.C.O.R.E. EXP.

I've never seen a need or desire to try out the private servers nor maintain a workshop. In terms of ores, you can run around the Ash Heap and get the ores just as fast or faster.

Lesson learned the hard way, sometimes ... . Fun places in "Private world" but in "Public world", try to loot somewhere else ... .

That been said, once you know how to deal with a workshop, never have junk with you, always crouch in the area (make you invisible on map), don't stay there for a long time ... , you can give it another try ... .

Exactly. It takes a long time to set up the workshops on public since server hopping will eliminate your claim; without a team mate to get you back just hope you don't disconnect at any point. Having a private world allows you to bypass that set up and horde double the farmed inventory, which is what the extra stash does for you but that really doesn't help you "win" the game any better. Having more junk is just more junk to sort through.

Except workstations are a piss poor place to farm things. There are much better alternatives and knowledge to that is literally a google click away.

It is a violation to post other peoples tags or names on Steam and you will probably be banned if you do not remove it. Notice, I had to remove it myself in this post or I would have been banned.
