game not launching
So I have played the game on my computer last year and after coming back and downloading the game all over again , every time I am clicking the play button nothing happens as the steam tries to launch the game
I get no messages , error codes , ding sound whatsoever and the steam play button turns back to green

So far I have tried :
- updating graphics driver , windows and even the MB bios
- verifying game files using steam
- totally re-downloading and reinstalling the game
- disabling steam overlay
- closing any unnecessary apps running in the background
- safe boot

but I think none of these matter as when I copied the same game files on another computer with same version of windows and graphics driver

GAME STARTED RUNNING WITH NO ISSUES

my main computer that I am trying to launch the game on :
- ryzen 5 2400G
- Gtx 1070ti
- 16 GB of 3200mhrz (running at 2999 because cpu sucks ass)
- I don't think other specs matter

the second computer which I managed to run the game on :
- intel i-3 10100F
- Gtx 1050 ti
- 16 GB of 2400mhrz ram

so my question is :
- where should I start looking for the problem ?
- Could it be one of the amd bios settings causing the issue? (so far didn't have any similar issues with other games for 2 past years, even other bethesda games running on creation engine)
- could it be a sign of hardware failure ?

Try running the .exe from the folder, not through steam."

This may be not a thing here, but helped me when I couldn't run F76 once. Delete settings files (in my documents. Fallout76Pref Fallout76 and Fallout76Custom if you have it)"

and for the DirectX

I don't even know which graphics compute API game is trying to use since it doesn't even create a config file

What I'm about to write is all theory and in no way from a knowledgeable source but it may help prompt a solution.

From other threads and Bethesda themselves the only sure fire solution seems to be to reinstall Windows... that's a rubbish solution.

Since you have 2 PCs it may be possible to find a difference in Windows updates or security settings.

From my own experience the game keeps faulting with a DCOM error in event viewer. I can get it to run after a few tries, though the issue may be unrelated.

Looking up what that DCOM does it's possible an update to Windows or Edge browser has caused Fallout 76 to be blocked from network services and hence why a reinstall or different computer works.

I won't suggest any steps as it could require registry editing and potential damage to Windows install or other programs. This is more a suggestion for further research/testing.

In short I feel the issue many are having is more network security related then hardware/software problems, but without experiencing them I can't test or research possible solutions.

For me it still freezes on the 'Please Stand By' screen, even after checking the files and having it download 3.9GB of data that Steam found to be corrupt. What is happening? It was working fine the day before...

Someone mentioned to delete my AppData folder for the game, and that worked! This is ridiculous.

Bumping this because I still have to delete my AppData folder everytime I want to launch this game, heh.

Hi , thank you for your pation to read and answer
unfortunately I've been looking into the both network and firewall settings and matched them exactly to second computer but still no results

i know it's frustrating since there is no errors and no clues
I won't be doing a fresh windows installation just for one game
So I gave up on this game entirely

I played Fallout 76 last night, and now when I try to start, it just crashes immediately without any error message. It does create a minidump file, and analyzing the dump the error from the game is this:
------

ExceptionAddress: 00007ff61ed76e70 (Fallout76!Scaleform::Render::Matrix2x4<float>::SetIdentity+0x00000000006fc3f0)
ExceptionCode: c000001d (Illegal instruction)
ExceptionFlags: 00000000
NumberParameters: 0

PROCESS_NAME: Fallout76.exe

ERROR_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0xc000001d - {EXCEPTION} Illegal Instruction An attempt was made to execute an illegal instruction.

There is no lingering Fallout process

Resetting the video driver with Win+Ctrl+Shift+B does not remedy

Restarting Steam seems to have worked. There was a pending update for Steamworks which might have caused this.

Did you ever find a cause to fix this?

nope . I gave up
1. In the address bar, type %LocalAppData% (Info provided by Iscamania)
2. Remove the Fallout76 folder
3. Delete Steam, then download the game to another folder.
4. Link your Steam account to the Bethesda account
5. INstall the game again, and try to launch it again.

- I had this problem myself, sometimes the game works poorly on older generations of Ryzens, had no issue with the i5 6400 before switching to Ryzen, works fine but not nearly as well as on Intel. I'd recommend paying a visit to a local technician for him to run a simulation with similar hardware.

Ubisoft?
Hitodama, Oops, Bethesda, not Ubisoft! Just go to bethesda.com, there you want to link your Steam account to the account, simple.
