Nuclear Material: carry a plasma weapon and melt things. They will drop nuclear material
Cores: Craft gatling lasers, you'll get a fresh core with each weapon made (unless they nerfed this). The other option is taking the powerplants on a private world and just collecting them
Oh there is a little trick to "tag" resources you really need, basically go into your inventory then "examine" the resource you're after and there should be an option there to tag the resource. Whenever you open a container or look at a corpse, any items with the resource you want will have a little magnifying glass next to it.
Fusion Cores? Can get those fairly easily from Fusion Reactors out in the open but usually they're only filled 25% of the way. I usually get my 100%ers from events, you're guaranteed to get at least 1 fully charged core from the "Line in the Sand" event. Make sure to use the "Electric Absorption" Legendary Perk, basically there's a % chance to partially recharge your core whenever you get hit by energy weapons, always handy when you're fighting robots for example.
Hope this helps a bit!
Screws, drop nukes on Earl, loot the Windigo Adds, loot, profit. Alternately, loot every fan you see, crawl through buildings and scrap.
Fusion Cores, do the repair XX nuclear facility mission, or build your own reactors after you capture Poseidon, Monongah, and/or Thunder Mountain to power the Fusion Core "Processor". You should get enough doing that. Alternately, you can just bounce to all the fusion core spawns, like The General Steakhouse et al or the existing world reactors like those at the rail yard.
1 each time
ah cougar was first
That is definitely the way to do it on a Private server, but the OP didn't mention if he has FO1st or not.
Edit; That way gets a little risky for a newer player on a Public server.
I guess its different on Pc. I primarily play on Xbox and have only had someone kill me in a workshop once since 2018. I have gotten private messages of people asking if they can take the workshop from me more than actual fights.
One of my toons had a camp on the south side of the lake beside Thunder Mountain, in sight of the workshop. When I logged in I would run the "Power Up" event, claim the workshop, hook it up, then just go about getting my dailies. Since I'm back at my camp every 20-30 (real-time) minutes, that's just enough time for the core maker to fill up with 3 cores - go empty it, run back to camp, repair and refuel, then back out on the next event/daily. I could clear 12 cores a night, easy. Since my camp was on the back side, where the core maker is right near the water and thus the workshop border, I'd be in and out in about 10 seconds. I haven't ever built near Monongah, but I know you can build near the train stop outside of Poseidon and have a similarly close camp and supply run.
I'm in the US in Pacific Time and late at night here players sometimes run out of things to do and taking Workshops from other players is a little more common than you would think.
electrical absorption
laserfest a gogo
Ultracite lasers do, I don't think normal laser rifles do though
