Atom Store prices WTH
So I been playing the game for a bit. I got it on sale last week. Now I been doing some of the quests. I just finished doing the Brother of Steel story.

Now I got a subscription for mainly the storage issue with collecting loot. Fine. But when I look at the store prices it's insanely high. A power armor skin is 10 dollars or 1000 or more atoms. 10 dollars for a skin color? Are they out of their minds?

A skin should be around 1 or 3 dollars at max. Not 10 dollars to start off. So I get about 1650 atoms per month if I keep my subscription. If I were to get a armor skin mod, there goes those atoms.

I know some people get the subscription for the scrap storage. Then they get enough scrap and turn off the subscription until they need more. Sounds like a viable solution to that.

But holy smoke, all the other stuff in the store is like going to cost you a mortgage or something. I know you get atoms from getting SCORE objectives. I don't really pay attention to that. I just get them from scrapping stuff or killing stuff.

I know that no one is forcing me to buy anything. So let's take that argument out right now. Story expansions I can see them charging 15 to 30 dollars.

To place a new color paint job on my armor or gun should not even reach 10 bucks or higher.

This sounds like I am ranting but I notice the new set of items and I think wow, I can't get any of it unless I spend bank loads of money to get. I also understand this is an online game, but charging high prices isn't going to attract newcomers.

I think my point is that they should lower the prices on the items.

End rant Sorry I had to get that off my chest.

Personally I blame Putin and the gas prices influencing the prices for pixels on the Atomic Shop.

Ugh dont you peoknow cant just blame Putin and gas prices for driving up atom pixel prices lol this whole war in the Ukraine is keeping pixels from being shipped and thus demand is higher then the supply hence the price raise lmafo

I have to wonder how many people who play 76 are used to only playing single player games, because friends let me tell you it gets a LOT worse in some games lmao.

You mention expansions costing $15-$30. That's honestly part of the trade-off I believe in Beth's mind. All of the story/ops/gameplay content updates are free,.so they charge more for the frivolous small stuff.

Now, I'm not justifying the high prices on things, especially for PA skins, but just giving some insight as to why this is (partially) the case.

There are also many skins you can find for free in-game that you get as rewards for different quests and events, so you can still get those to customize things.

I just started playing again about a month and a half ago, after not touching it since launch. Personally, I just watch for the bundles and discounts they do every week in the store to get things cheaper. There's also a decent amount of Atoms that you can get from the scoreboard, which you mention, that you can snag stuff with. You get a bonus of 500 for completing rank 100, pkuse the several 150s on the board. And, if I'm not mistaken, get more for ranking the board past 100

As a new player I would not worry about atoms for now, simply play the game and have fun.
You will earn atoms progressing through the scoreboard(s) and by completing the various challenges, i.e. kill x amount of robots with a musical instruments.
Personally I would not focus on getting atoms through those challenges but rather let them trickle in by just playing the game or else they might become a chore. Later on it gives you something to focus on as some of them are quite silly, in my opinion.

I would rather spend money on story stuff because that seems justifiable for those prices. But to swap a color skin for the same price is ridiculous.

Reminds me of Angry Joe ranting about the color blue. 20 bucks for the color blue.
yes YOU would rather spend money on story stuff instead of purely cosmetic items, most of us do not. it’s been the best thing having all these expansion and story updates for free, it would be a pain for this to become like another typical MMO paying for expansion dlcs. I went through 300 hours of my gameplay without spending money on cosmetics and I’m happy I did. You don’t need them, forget they exist if you have to.

I grind challenges and the Scoreboard to get atoms. It's possible to purchase stuff without paying additional irl $$$, but you'll never have an unlimited budget. You just have to be careful with how you spend it. For instance I'd rather have furniture than power armor paints (since more build options = more fun building & decorating), but that's just me.
