No audio

Checked my headset on different games and streamed music and my headset is working fine. However, when I launch Fallout 76 I get no audio. I made sure the audio path was set to go to my headset. I would like to avoid having to uninstall and reinstall if possible but I wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue and what solutions they came up with. Thanks in advance.

Did you get it figured? 76 does weird stuff with external devices such as pc controllers or mic volumes. I remember I had to adjust my mic in three different places to get it to work in game. It's my guess it's something along these lines.

like had this same prob this evening

almost certain my keyboard (loose usb) screwed up the full game audio
meanwhile youtube music still continued, but flatout mute game from then

my kb is connected to the same usb hub as my headphone amplifier

think its just mini power outages and windows 10 going vista
happened on my tunes in firefox just now
restarted browser
all fine

I perhaps had similar problem with my bluetooth headset, I couldn't get any audio when I opened any game with voice chat.
Well that was my cheap headset that couldn't handle both higher quality audio input/output. Disabled headset mic in sound settings and everything worked.

Right click on the sound setting icon on the bottom right of your screen and click "sounds".

Go to "recording" tab

Right click on your headset and select "disable"

Restart Fallout 76

For once, you CANT blame Bethesda for this one. This is purely a Microsoft issue that has been known about for, I am not joking you, since Windows Vista. They refuse to patch the issue because most users will blame the game devs for the problem so why bother?

I lost partial audio, could still hear the NPC's talking, music, weapons fire but I could no longer hear my footsteps or anyone else's, not that big of a deal though

I have kinda the same, but I can't hear my gun shoot, radio menu and footsteps...
It is unplayable when the only sound is crickets and someone randomly saying a short sentence
