Is it possible to DELIBERATELY quickly spoil food?
As the title says folks, I'm curious if it's possible to fast-track spoiling food. I'm trying to make more fertilizer, but while I can gather from crops, now I'm waiting for it to spoil. Do I just throw it all in the stash and wait? Does the salt perk affect spoilage time *while in the storage* or only on your person?

Thanks folks.

storage is as quick as they'll spoil

that said your easiest source is the robot farm on the west of the map by the river

the one where the robots have the quest to collect anything to decompose it (aka you)

pick the things there for a good ~10 and you can pickup bags on the ground for another 50 or so which is plenty

If you head over and do the Moonshine Jamboree the Gulpers drop loads of stuff that spoil. Often others will put it in the tool box or shelves or just plain out drop it. I usually loot all and get heaps of the stuff. At which I drop again lol

yeah spoiled food when prepared a certain way is has one of the best buffs in the game. That is why I wonder why they dont let the vendor sell you spoiled food for 0caps.

Go do Moonshine Jamboree, it runs a LOT. You will be swimming in more gulper innards than you can sell for caps. Turn them into gulper slurry for caps or just let it rot for fert. Go hang out at berkley station too, people will drop their gulper innards/slurry there or leave it in the register.

I believe if you put food in the fermentor it will spoil. If you need fertilizer put your camp where a phosphorous node is you can then put down an extractor and have endless.

Bananas.

No. This isn't just a troll. It's really a thing.

Keep your bananas separate from other produce or open foods. Or better yet don't eat the weird things. They're one of the only fruits that don't have juices. Why?
I'll tell you why, Stuart. They're actually a Martian crop, sent to earth as part of the failed Martian terraforming project. If you eat too many, you will become spotted, and start to resemble an old banana; your insides will ferment and you'll be perfectly ripe for a great many Martian culinary recipes. They were building landing pads until they saw Martha Stuart and Snoop Dog making banana bread. For reasons of Martian social politics we won't get into the invasion force could not understand this Holy Union, or the incredibly delicious food stuffs that Snoop and Martha had created from the biological weapons. They were so dumbfounded and in fact a little terrified that they just went home.

Beware the banana. It is mighty.

Oh, how cool it would be if they added a camp item to do this.

This sounds like the Creationism theory that Bananas are the proof of God's design. The logic goes that the shape of the banana is designed to fit perfectly in the hand so therefore proof of intentional design... I'm not making this up some people really believe this...

Mixed fruit in a bowl will help ripen each other due to chemicals they release. As for the OP question, there are some spots that have dead Brahmin (RIP) with spoiled meat. I'm not sure of the locations but try Flatwoods.

NOT AGAIN

Oh crap I just saw a user named Banana. I think they actually associate as one, too.
My bad my guy/gal... er, my.. musa? I guess? Totes was not aimed at you, though I understand if you're offended; I will swiftly delete the post if you feel in any way personally attacked.

*I forgot this post had a purpose, my bad.

Original Poster, I have found that using spoiled meat to make fertilizer is extremely inefficient; I use it to make dynamite, and other explosives, and even if I were to gather fresh meat in bulk and tripled it's spoil rate it would be far easier, far more productive, far more overall beneficial in other gains, and far more fun to go gather Bulk Fertilizer from locations that it spawns. Other users and the wikis can help you find specific locations, but in general you can find a few bags anywhere you find cultivated plants such as gardens, greenhouses, and farms. A North to South to East run utilizing fast travel without the Travel Agent perk will run you around 200 caps if you're smart about lining up your locations. You can get would cost ~2-3k caps from vendors in a little under an hour, or in far less once you have your route established.
