This game used to run fine, now its stuttering non stop
Clean install of WIndows 11, all hardware updated, no AV blocking

i7 9700k
RTX 3080 12GB
32GB ddr4 ram @ 3200mhz
1TB ssd m.2

tested at 3440x1440
2560x1440
1920x1080
and at 4k resolutions.

Boarderless window
full screen
and boarderd

I turned off vsync change settings in nvdia control panel. Nothing fixes it.

Verified the game and reinstalled.

FPS isnt an issue. I get 80 to 144fps across the wasteland. The game has micro stutters every few seconds. Most servers are horrendous with it, but every 10th or 11th server hop I find one with not as much, then it picks up again when I enter a new area.

Game used to work fine before the last major update. Any ideas on how to fix? My hardware is fine, as I have no issues in any other game I play, from Elden RIng, to Star Citizen to Spiderman to Doom. Just this one :(

Only thing I could suggest would be limiting your FPS to 60, the game (at least used to) starts running into problems when your FPS gets too high(never had this problem myself, just trying to remember solutions given the last time it popped up). May not help, but might be worth a shot, I keep my whole PC limited to 60 FPS (as my monitor is an old 60 hrtz monitor no point in going above it)

Might also check the config file if you changed anything in there(turning off depth of field/ V-sync and the like manually), as an update may reset that file.

I tried that as well, changing my fps didnt fix the stuttering sadly. My monitor is a 144hz and the other 2 are 240hz, but I set all 3 to 60hz, even disabled 2 of the 3, no fixes. Only began being an issue with the latest patch

the problem is windows 11, for standard he deactivates 1 core fuction, only multi-core (cpu), thats why the 10-15 seconds sluttering, there are programs to bypass this, just make a research, i know, fallout 76 sucks.

Ive been playing on windows 11 for nearly 2 years and never had this issue. I am uploading a video showing just how bad the issue is. The game is not playable anymore for me atm

yup, but maybe in those years you had 1 core option working, now with a fresh install maybe an update disabled it (i know because another guy had the same issue and someone recommended to activate it again with positive results)

My Core Isolation Memory Integrity is set to off. I am gonna turn it on and restart the pc once the video finishes uploading to youtube. Ill report back on any changes I notice.

Also thanks for making the suggestion. I am not ready to give up on the game :cozybethesda:

It's just as bad. Doesnt matter if I turn the core Isolation off or on.

You can try an experiment, core isolation memory its to safeguard against malware attacks, but you can force the computer to only work with 1 core, just go to msconfig/boot/advanced options and limiting the computer processors to 1, dont know if windows 11 have this option and if will cause an issue with other programs underground,

Also i checked memory issues with windows 11, and there are some leaks, microsoft is working to have an answer,

Im not going to turn an 8 core cpu into a single core cpu even to test. I just tested on Outriders, Metro Exodus and going to fire of State of Decay 2. So far no other game is having any issues. So its some conflict between the OS and the game.

Doing so searching, it seems Windows 11 doesnt run well at all on anything made by Bethesda and they dont seem too eager to give a reply or a fix, so just gonna have to chalk it up.

I am building a 13700K at the end of the month, so if need be, Ill slap windows 10 back on this pc to, play fo76
Not my video

Checked the video, try to do 1 thing, first go to mydocuments/mygames/fallout76 and make a new .ini (just make a txt, rename it to fallout76custom, and change extension .txt to .ini) copy + paste all lines from fallout76prefs.ini into the new one.
Into the new one, change "iPresentInterval" from 1 to 0 save it and put him (in properties) read only, and in nvidia control panel/manage 3d settings/program settings/fallout76.exe (if windows cant detect it, just make one finding it in your hard disk), change "background application max frame rate" and "max frame rate" to 57 and "vertical sync" to adaptive.

Try again if the game is continuing sluttering.

(If you make a new .ini dont enter in options inside the game, you cant save your changes because the read only archive, and its read only because when an update comes, fallout76 will try to change it)

Edit: Also you have a monster pc no?, when you launch the game, alt + tab and launch task manager, find fallout76.exe in details and change priority to realtime.

I have done all the ini tricks. I have also pulled task manager up on the other monitor, to see if cpu spikes were causing the stutter, but they are not the cause. The stuttering happens anywhere between 40% and above on the usage.

No issues on Outriders, State of Decay 2, Empire at War, Elden RIng, or The Amazing Spider Man.

Its only THIS game, and only since the last update. Hell, I even rolled my gpu drivers back 2 drivers to see if the gpu driver might be playing not so nice with the game. No luck.

All I can come up with, is something in this last update, didnt play well with certain hardware, since there are alot of recent reports of stuttering on the game.

Ill try again when I build my new PC later this month. I have all new hardware, ddr5 ram the only thing getting reused is the GPU, which is under 6 month old. Just waiting for the i7 13700K to ship, I preordered, so if the issues happens on that system, then its OS/game related more than likely.

I have the exact same thing in my game. The image freezes but I can still hear audio. I have tried everything to fix it but every session is the same. I just got my Series X and downloaded 76. The thing runs like butter on the X and not 1 issue at level 56.

I have way more crap on PC and it does look better but every time the game freezes I just want to quit the PC version. I also run windows 11 RTX 3080 Suprim Samsung m.2 drive and 32GB Kingston Hyper X DDR4.
