Is there a price guide for selling stuff at the vending machine?
I dont want to flood this place with "what's this worth" or "do people buy that thing" kind of stuff, so I was wondering if theres a guide that shows what items are in demand and how much their worth.

That way I know what to keep, throw out or sell at NPC vendors.

no, but almost nothing will sell. Unless there is an overload with caps high level player that goes by your camp. He will buy your stuff, if he sees that you are still a low level player, even if he don't need your items! I was lucky once as one goes by my camp, and buy everything in the machine! I think, it have to be at least 50% to 75% rebate of the selling price to sell! He bought everything, and put it in a bag beside the machine!

in the past they would fly off but, the ammo update has mostly removed the demand for people needing ammo.

So yes can sell ammo if you like but if it ain't the ultracite type or just a fusion core / plasma core don't expect it any other type ammo to be sold very quick now days.

I haven't sold a single plasma or fusion core for months (or longer), so at least to me they are not in demand. My best sellers are plans, recipes, disease cures, addictols, screws, springs, adhesive, things that are of value to most players. The key is to sell light-weight stuff to save stash space. So don't sell weapons and armor (which aren't good sellers anyway from my experience).

Making caps is fairly easy from looting enemies' guns and armor with max Charisma and Hard Bargain rank 3 perk. Having a vending machine at your camp is often just a convenience for other players.

Depends if you want to just show the item off or actually have buyers.

In my experience those Price Check sites and Discords like to WAY OVER PRICE things compared to what the actual in-game market seems to be on average when I server hop and fast travel between camps.

Usually the "value" listed by the game itself isn't that accurate either and will have you under pricing or overpricing a lot of stuff.

Things like Stimpacks move really quickly at 5 to 7 caps. Anything more and you'll be holding onto them until someone desperate comes around.

Glowing Blood, Rad-X, RadAway, etc.. around 4 to 5 caps.

Pure Flux's somewhere between 100 to 200 caps is the general price.

High-Radiation Fluids, Glowing Mass, and Harden Mass around 50 to 65 caps each.

Serums somewhere between 250 to 400.

Treasure Maps around 10 caps each.

Most weapons and armor generally aren't going to move very quickly or for what you'd probably value them at so usually better off scraping for the legendary scrip unless it's something people are also seeking, has an extremely good legendary loadout, or some kind of rare variant. I usually list the Crowd Control shotgun for 1000 caps and they fly off the shelf so you can probably go a little higher with them.

Plans can really fluctuate depending on what they are. Ultracite PA plans have flooded the game making them almost entirely devalued. You can occasionally get 50 to 60 caps from each piece but you'll likely be sitting on them awhile since everyone gets mass loads of the plans. Stimpack (300 caps), Sympto-Matic (1,200 caps), etc.. plans usually sell every well in my experience.

Most food/drink Recipes will sell pretty well around 30 caps, but some of the more easily obtained ones will just never sell as everyone has them. So I usually just stick the really good Recipes in there.

Fusion Cores is one of those things that is valued way below what the game tries to tell you. Something around 50 caps at 100 load would net you some sellers occasionally. But Fusion Cores aren't going to fly off the shelves. Anything less than half load you're better off just dumping in a suitcase at a Station for someone to come along and grab for free.

If there's anything specific you're curious about you can ask. I generally don't follow the guide pricings and just go with what I see naturally at in-game camps and from my own experience of what it took to actually get stuff sold and I do really well as most of the stuff in my vending machine sells pretty quickly which is a good thing imo as it's taking up space in my Stash box that I could otherwise be using. =P

My .45, and .556 ammo sells pretty quickly even when I upped them to 2 caps each. The other ammo I keep at 1 cap and it will occasionally be purchased... but I'm thinking of throwing it into the ammo converter to save stash space if it keeps growing faster than it's bought.

honestly
a price checking (sub)forum should be a thing on here

the fed76 price checking tool (on discord that is) can't keep up with the vibrant market (it's like the wiki fandom site => not dissing here, but with every update/fix bethesda does, it causes it to be a near impossible task keeping track on prices )
the best course of action of knowing real value is just ask players

Typically selling everything at cost or just a little more is appropriate. Rare items, items you feel particularly SPECIAL about be they junk or treasure, god or near-god rolls sell for more. You Have Been Insulted notes go for 40k. Mutation Serums will be reliably sold at profit if you range them 300-500 caps, though they're worth more; base sale price is 200 and anything under is a total steal. Stable flux variations are another reliable item that will attract customers. Make sure your camp icon is on to be visible to other players, though, as that's the most important if you want customers.

**I just realized koby covered most of that appropriately. My bad. The only thing I wanna mention on that note then is that those Aid items he mentioned (glowing blood, super stims, diluted rad-x) are excessive in weight without a Chemist Backpack mod, and create HUGE weight in relation to how much you make off them - you're better off selling them to NPC vendors and maintaining the space in your stash/vendor for more desirable or at least humorous items(You Have Been Insulted notes).

Once you have enough caps/routine to your junk gathering it can be easier to just make uniform prices easy for you to set - for instance, any "small item" such as flux or serums I sell for 76 caps, "medium items" such as standard legendary gear or rare weapons I sell at 760, and any "large item" aka anything particularly good is 7,600 or its own specific price such as the Insult Notes.

also consider continental locations/time zones
shotgun shells i dump in europe, but can sell in usa easily (muricans luv their shotties)

my tip for getting cash really fast:
make sure to invest in recipe mutation
sell them to vendor bots (480 caps a pop)
if you have 4 other characters
that's 7000 caps a day

wow so glad i didn't get it from you. got mine for 500 caps much more reasonable for a build that not many players use anyways.

i often buy my ammo as it doesnt drop in decent quantities for me but if the price is over 1 cap i refuse to buy it . (not including cores)

You two seem more luckly then me then, put my ammo at 1 cap or even bloody free aka 0 caps (with only the ammo i said being duh not 1 cap) and they still hang around for weeks on end takes me like about 2-5 weeks to even get any of it taken.

I for one don't need to buy ammo much myself its so easy to get ammo and even make it that it really is not a valued vendor item anymore. Used to get a ammo sell every 1-3 days since the ammo update takes weeks for even one person to buy either the lot or a little of whats in my shop when it comes to ammo.

between 3* weapons and armor, and junk. ive made 10K caps in about 1 day
Machika Oct 5, 2022 @ 3:52am
If its buy something from a player vendor then I'll buy one ammo if they have what I use but with The Pitt I never run out unless it is plasma cartridges. Mobs don't drop enough of that or fuel.

This is just based off my experience, and I've been near max cap value since lvl35 (currently at 115). When I get near 40k, I shop players first who generally have crazy prices, then move to npc bots and spend 5k. Rinse repeat.

salt - 12c
pepper - 12c
cream - 10c
sugar - 10c
sugar bombs (rad version) - 10c
all ammo - 1c (just dump .38, .44, 40mm, nukes, cannon balls, .50 ball, arrows( both), missiles, and syringes unless you've got the pain in the ass ammo converter).
Rarely, 5mm, shot gun shells, .308 will also sell, so I keep them. 10mm super rarely sells but I generally convert it. Same with fusion cells.

junk material- 1c
bobble heads and mags - 20c
berry mentats - 15c
fusion cores are super common and easy to charge. I sell them at 8/16/24/32c depending on charge. They still barely ever sell and I end up dumping them after awhile.
Everything else Divide the game value price by 5

There are plans that will never be worth anything, because they are very common.
Any vending machine that has higher prices then this...stand in front of it and do the laugh emote before moving on.

Maps, nuke cards, and govnt drop holo's.
maps - 5-10c
govt holo's - these are pretty useless but, 2-5c sells eventually
nuke cards - depends on when free ones get handed out, but I've sold these between 20-100c.
*If I remember anything else I'll come back and edit this.
