If you do all the story and side quests, you should be able to get around 75 to 100 hours out of it.
If it holds you interest past that, you can easily invest a couple hundred more hunting for better gear, exploring and grinding reputation and bullion for settlers/raiders special gear/equipment.
Despite its online only foundation it’s still very much a fallout game and you can play completely solo if you want to. Lots do and only interact with others to visit player vendors and open world community events.
There’s no rush in how long you want to make the story last either. There’s no real end game race to the finish like some games have and you can stretch it out as long as you want. I played to level 146 before I really even bothered to do the story at all, I spent the time before that doing every event that I could that game treasury notes as current and the season that was running at the time. If you go through story quickly it could last you 50-100 hours.
How long the game holds your interest after the story is done Is on you and how you play. The devs do t add much new content at all, the upcoming Pitt is coming but isn’t bringing in any kind of expansion level content, mostly it’s new repeatable missions. End game is finding new gear, going events, dropping nukes to spawn world bosses etc. if you like that the game has infinite playability, if you figure you might not like that type of grind I’d say you’d get up to 20” hours worth of play time before you see it all.
Just remember the h game has lots of bugs and is not perfect. Expect to run into issues at some point. Most are well known at least and have work arounds so it doesn’t impact the game greatly.
If you like the fallout universe you’ll enjoy it, I like this game quite a lot. The community is the best gaming community I’ve come across which makes it more enjoyable.
If you enjoy fallout 4, you’ll fit right in and it will feel familiar, if you love New Vegas you might not like it as much
I do hope you enjoy it though!
i know this because the first 500 hours i never teamed up
edit: i started from the beta in 2018
life wasn't that joyful back then lol
If you play through all of the main and side quests (hundreds of hours of gameplay?) and don't enjoy doing Daily Ops or daily missions after that, then it's over - you beat the game, congratulations.
you don't really need to pay extra for fallout 1st to get private worlds, other players can't possibly bother you other than with their mic but then you can just mute them (but no one really does that, this game's got a chill community) so you can pretty much play this singeplayer, however you do need other players for daily ops (to farm ammo mostly) and probably the new pitt expeditions, and of course the final quest but i ain't gonna specify why.
Also, personal preference and all, but I do think it's just one of the best world maps bethesda has ever done.
You can play it very well in single player, remember Turn pacifist mode on in your settings at level 5, you can very well follow the main mission, how not to follow it, and turn the map freely, I with the second character, I started the main mission after 70 levels, for example, when you have a good number of caps, search and buy from the players, the marsupial mutation, which will be very helpful to you, you can participate in events even if you are not in a team with other players, avoid at the beginning first 20 levels, those made with the launch of the atomic bomb or where you see a red circle on the map, if you do not have a hazmat suit, are suicide, and not worth the hours of gameplay between the main story and the subplots you play a 150 / 300 hours if you then go hunting for pieces to get yourself the power armor set. weapons modules and more you can reach even over 500 hours. then there are the objects of the shop that you buy with the game money, that you can buy with real money or as you do since 2018 when you exit the game, which has not spent a penny more and earned it with missions. I bought the game on Bethesda
this game is at its best with a party of 4
playing solo is asking for playing with a handicap (which is also fun if you want a challenge)
it's a coop game with solo features
and it's ofc not your fault to think that way
bethesda has been really vague about all of this because from the backlash since the beginning /beta
