Workshop Budget Exceeded
Keep getting this message when I REMOVE and SCRAP Camp objects to make room to place others down. Every time I scrap something in my base it doesn't free up any room in my camp budget. Is this a bug or did they actually give us less room in our budget this last patch?

Why would you build a fancy things in a workshop of all places? Someone could come along and just ruin it all unless you were playing a private world and trust all or if you have 0 friends then i at least understand more why you would.

Are you sure that you are scrapping objects and not storing them
like Vogel said storing will add to the budget

On occasion, they will adjust the FU of camp objects up or down which can cause you to be over budget if they made something cost more. In which case, you're over budget to begin with so you're going to have to scrap more.

But they usually put it in the patch notes if something has changed.

CAMP budget is larger than the workshop budget. Sounds like you are going to build a fancy base one day.

I'm sure, there's nothing in my stored tab in my CAMP.

I was talking about my CAMP, not a workshop. In my CAMP it says I've exceeded my workshop budget even as I SCRAP (not store) items I already had placed in my CAMP.

For example I wanted to move my Shelter Lobby door to another location in my camp, but when I went to place the door it said I was over budget, so I deleted the other door in my CAMP and it still said I was over budget even though I scrapped an item to rebuild that exact same item.

But I was under budget before the patch and I've removed (scrapped) a lot of workshop items in my CAMP and it hasn't freed up any space in my budget. If they adjusted something, they must have drastically increased its cost because I had room before and I have no room now even though I'm deleting items.

Go to the stored tab first; scrap everything from there. Something similar happened to me, as the B Man mentioned; in my instance the size of stored items was increased. Also crafting benches take up a good amount of space and can easily go to the shelter which houses a great many fewer CAMP items, otherwise. If you've got a glitch camp that might be an issue; not that I have evidence to support this but the update borked enough stuff might was well cover your bases. If nothing else, try activating your second camp and seeing if that's borked up as well. From there try to clear the second camp to test with.

I don't have any stored items, that entire tab is blank. Every time I scrap something in my base it doesn't have any effect on my budget, I could end up scrapping my entire base and being unable to build a new one if this is a bug, I'd rather not do that since my base was extremely difficult to build given it's location on the map. I can't even place a shelter or shelter lobby.

Oh ok i guess you got yourself a bugged camp then as if that happens to me it doesn't state "workshop" it clearly says "Camp" if i hit the limit at my camp. Some times normally when the game gets a patch or big update cough pitt cough. Your camp can become broken (buggy) Only way to fix is plopping down a new camp and then your forced to rebuild it back up eaither by the stored items or by scratch i recommend doing it by scratch tho.

I've been playing for 3 years and made around 40+ camp designs over those years (lost count at 40 lol so idk how many times i've plopped the camp down now days) and out of those 40+ i've had only two bugged camps. One of those two was very bugging out i did the scoreboard daily to build wall deco right. Well placed it down but when it came to removing it as i didn't want to keep it, only did it for the scoreboard, i couldn't select it to even go about removeing it. Overall it was stuck there on the wall forever, i just couldn't remove picture frames i built for the scoreboard. so i put a object to hide it instead as it was that bugged lol.

3 months later i added some rocket turrets to the same camp that had the bugged picture frames and sure enough 2 days later i log on and those turrets disappeared they still counted to my camp budget but there were not there at all even tho the wiring to power them was still floating were the turrets should be.

that was the last straw for me it was only then i moved my camp else were had enough of it breaking down on me and sure enough i removed the picture frames finnaly and got my turret back in the storage when i moved but yes you can't have a camp without it having the Bethesda charm of it breaking down and causing bugs lol.

So yes i would recommend to fix your problem is to re placeing your camp down and scrap all of it or keep very little of it and start over from nothing, then you might be likely to fix that camp budget problem your having.

Side note: if you see when you place down your camp that it doesn't say cost 40caps then clearly your camp budget is smaller then others it levels up every time you place it down till you get to 40 caps to place it, at that point the camp budget doesn't become any bigger anymore also the building zone also grows a tad bit bigger till the 40cap limit as well.

Check the blueprint page anything there?
If so delete it.
Should free up budget.
Sometimes things don't show in the stored tab they still show on the tab they belong to.
IE Put down 15 foundations and scrap ten and go back to the foundation tab it says something similar to: Floor Foundations (5)

FC's advice seems entirely legit. That's a rough rebuild. Need any extra scrap?
