I'd recommend doing the original questline first, but it doesn't really matter. It's basically one silly long tutorial that teaches how the game mechanics work from boiling the water to nuking the queen but it does have few good stories and you get familiar with the map etc.
You can turn quests on and off from pip-boy so they won't clutter your screen if you want to do them later.
Before pushing the questlines, test your survivability and sustainability. Doesnt have to be perfect but it has to be somewhat comfortable if shtf.
You can farm all the scraps at the Morgan Town Airfield and the mutant bases north of that. The prison and the dam.
That’s the problem, I didn’t get first contact. He instead wanted me to talk to the two ladies instead.
when you see events pop up join them
especially rad rumble, guided mediation, any nuke one, imposter sheep
Those 2 women start the Wayward questline, it's a side quest and you can do it before starting the wastelanders main questline, they aren't connected. I'm pretty sure wastelanders main quest starts with radio transmission when you are a bit higher level.
so basicly the responders and the airport and the hospital is the old questline with all its holotapes but its needed to start the 2nd half of wastelanders and the first half of wastelanders are the wayward quests and if you do both lots should take you to lvl 20 with ease ( if you didnt do the hospital first via the old main quest the overseer gives you a reason to do the hospital anyways once you hit lvl 20 ) i reckon this will not make much sense until you go through it at least once they where made with a big differance of quest logic behind them as the old stuff was for a game with no living npc s in it
"Ra Ra we need to plan this".
"Ok, bye".
"Im dying do something".
"Told you we need a plan".
"Ok, youre boring...bye".
Take your time, explore the map and get xp from finding new POIs. Learn how to quickly progress the season challenges as that will be the bulk of useful playtime.
Look in every container for plans as they will improve your gear or camp builds. Walk around as you can find rare vendor spawns.
This game is a marathon, not a sprint.
Do it in any order. I recomment participating in events asap when you can. That will level you the quickest.
