Bulk your junk
BizarreMan Dec 31, 2021 @ 12:39am
1) you can analyse the junk in your stash and determine how much you use of them and reduce the level of items that you store. For example, steel & wood are easy to get. So don't hold onto a lot of them.

2) Review the other tabs. Do you have a bunch of heavy ammo that you rarely if ever use. If you don't use a lot of grenades, 40mm Grenade Rounds, Missiles, Mini-nukes, ditch them. They can really weigh you down.

3) Look at your food/drink tab. How much food and beverages are you carrying. Don't hold onto a lot as they are easy to replace.

4) Do the same for your chems. No needs to sit on hundreds of stimpaks, radx/away, or other drugs.

5) Check on the Misc tab for gunpowder. It hides out there a lot.

6) If you aren't using weapons or armor, sell them or ditch them.

7) If you have hundreds of pounds of junk, and can't bear to part with it, the only other choice you have is subscribing to FO1st so you can move all of the junk to your scrap box and free up that space in your stash.

Bulk does nothing to reduce the weight of your junk. The only reason your weight goes down is because it consumes plastic.

Only 2 items that get slightly lighter with bulking are aluminium and lead. I feel this is a bug but it has never been fixed. Every other junk will weight the same when bulked and there is no benefit to bulking if you are trying to reduce weight.

As BizareMan says, the only reason you think you are slightly saving weight is due to consuming plastic to bulk everything. You do not get this plastic back when you un-bulk to use junk for crafting. So if you are bulking to keep junk, you are actually wasting plastic by doing so.

Whatever it is, you'll find it again.

Keep about 100 - 150 of each junk item. The rest can just be dropped.

The rest of it? If you aren't using it, just drop it. Don't keep it "just in case"; whatever it is, it's not rare and you will keep getting more of it.

Might wanna craft some ammo, sell or drop all that gunpowder. You could also trade in excess ammo using someone else's ammo converter

Drop them. They are especially heavy.

At a chem bench smelt your ore. it uses acid and turns into the refined material you can craft with.

1000 gunpowder!?!?!?!

That stuff ways a TON!

[edit] i just noticed I have 1300 gunpowder in my stash. oops?

Turns into scrap, but requires acid to do so.

Not. Worth. It.

Just drop the ore.

Pretty much this... You don't need much junk

I carry something around 5000-10,000 pounds of stuff on my character at all times through weight reduction perks which really helps that stash box got a bit further... would be good if I could have my vendor running and not worry constantly about 40k caps 40k caps MAX MAX MAX... makes it hard to get rid of things

or like they said bulking it (takes extra resources though)... I do wonder if you can super duper bulking stuff and make bonus out of nothing

thankfully most cosmetic gear is .1 pound each so you can have a lot of those
