well it looks like the vendor bug is back again.

someone just bought my Phantom Device off my vendor, yet i had not put it on my vendor to be sold!

just as well it was on an alt and not my main char.

its existed forever with multiple ways to have it occur

the trade bug between players is the same except they can take your items off of you while trading

their is a little known bug where they can do stuff with your camp and strip items off of your character too but I've only heard of it (from a reliable source)

We still have 2 active dupe methods plaguing the game

We still have 4 infinite exp loops you can do as well

So is there a safe workaround? I read somewhere to keep your stash box far away from your vendor, and have at least 4 items at max caps. Had something to do with players accessing you’re vendor while your camp is still loading.

Or is it just random? there is no way to stop it?

The stash box far away from the vendor was a theory that people had, the items at max caps was a theory that people had... While I can't say for certain that those don't ALSO allow access to the stashed items... the ways I know of that it can be done (and bethesda has reproducable video evidence of step by step how to do these methods) are malicious in nature and you can't stop them as the player on the receiving end

Atom shop or other skins also don't protect items from this

I've also had vendors buy and sell for legendary scripts / gold but that has been rare and I'm not sure how it was bugged to do so... they did 100% purchase and deliver the other forms of currency to the player who had the vendor up

That is game breaking. Legit reason to walk away from this game.

So the best fix is delete vendors and turn off map icon for an ongoing issue that's been around forever.
And their biggest concern right now is more crit nerfing that has the community upset.
76 has serious management issues.

I don't know if I've experienced losses with this bug yet, I hope I don't. It seems like the only sure way to avoid it is to not have a vendor at all, which would affect my caps income.

Suppose I put my stash box and scrapper into my vault and left the vendor topside. Could that work?

Put things you value on display in an unused shelter with a lock. If possible, apply a skin to weapons.

I don't think it's ever happened to me, but I'd be interested to know if the players taking things they shouldn't are aware that they're doing it, or if they accidentally think stuff is really for sale.
