Are ammo converters worth it?
I'm just trying to weigh up the pros and cons.

I does free up some storage but it takes for ever and a day to get the points when you first start out.

You mean the ammo points machine where you toss in your junk ammo and convert it to what you want?

I would say no. With the current state of the game with the recent contextual ammo changes (not to mention daily ops as well) and the ability to buy ammo for 1 cap each or less from players, i would not bother anymore. I find myself using it less and less these days. I only use it because i have it and not because i actually need it. Plus it is a pain in the backside to use with the clunky slow fixed amount menus. Makes a seemingly simple task quite tedious and time consuming. If you could just set an amount to dump into it in one go with a slider then it would be much better to use.

I would recommend you save your sanity and just don't bother. :VBOY:

I agree with this. It's just not worth it now.

I only use it for scrapping missiles and yeah, even as annoying as it is, I prefer that to being jumping from camp to camp looking for the ammo I need.

If you have weapon (s) with standard receiver, it's worth it ... . For me, convert every ammo I pick up to .50 Cal ... .

no its a pain to use the thing
i tossed all ammo types i didnt use on the ground thats how hard it is to get ammo when you are end game

It's nice to have the points there so that if a new weapon comes out or you want to try something new it's easy to buy some ammo.

The conversion rate is terrible and unlikely to keep main guns fed.

The principle of it is good but the functionality is terrible. It's very slow going through the menus, it also doesn't always make sense for ammo type. It says 308 is LOW POWER. But beyond that, it's an incredibly slow process. I usually just throw ammo on the ground and not bother using the machine. It's like wanting to deposit 852 in your bank and them saying sorry, you can only deposit increments of 120 and 10. And every transaction, you have to reinsert your card and reenter your pin. It's crazy annoying.

Like many things in game, it's crap for most people but, it works excellently in specific situations.

It's great for my Explosive Launcher character. Daily Ops gives a massive return on Cannonballs, which can be sold to the ammo converter for a large amount of points. Those can be turned into Missiles and Mini-Nukes as I want them. All of this is heavy but, keeping them as ammo points is weightless.

I would label the ammo converter a last resort.

Exactly, I collect mininuke and missiles and convert them into explosive ammo for the grenade launcher. I always collect all the ammunition that comes, currently there are over 20,000 points: I never travel without my pack of 120 explosive grenades. :-)
On the contrary, I don't understand why they sell ammunition with converters. :-) I often buy them for 1 cap each anyway.

some say yes, as for me I think it's a huge waste of time if they refined the breakdown and exchange system so it didn't take so... long then I can see the worth. but considering it's not a new item and they already made it "simpler" once I doubt it will get any better.

This. I reached the max points with only mini nukes during past Fasnacht event.
