also with sources of water nearby that can take 10+ industrial purifiers (now with vintage coolers might not really matter)
have dropped one by the wayward with all the fixings for new players (hundreds of plants of all types, ferti grenades, ammo, benches and tons of water available, sadly often blocked by other players
have my secondary base location (first one was the ski hill but the supermutants aggroed it so much when I was a low level that I got annoyed and searched for a good location without enemies) has tons of water, almost no enemies every attack and if they do its from one direction only, and is only infrequently blocked by other players
so when the third option for camps became a thing I searched for a new location, charted sources of water, then started looking at where other players were... Found a location that in over 100 server hops didn't ever have someones camp at it and built at that location. It is never a contested space which is nice
1. You have an idea for a camp that dictates the location. For example a creepy church would look good in The Mire.
2. You have a location but need inspiration for the build. For example on a cliff with a nice vista would suit a log cabin or chateau.
There are some good areas with flat land that can suit but it really depends on what atomic store/season stuff you own (or willing to buy) to what is possible.

many reasons
one = easily deployable death tower
two = can do much more with it than a tent
three = if neighbors complain about the noise you camp somewhere else and nuke the old neighborhood out of childish spite

Floating camps, like an air balloon.
Underwater shelters for camo themed camps.
Ship camp.
Near the Wayward is always a good spot because of the volume of low-levels that will travel that way. Anywhere near Whitesprings is the best but be prepared to deal with lots of feral ghouls.
