Help needed with a curious issue with building a scrapbox WITHOUT Fallout 1st

I'll try keep this real simple but bear with me..

I have Fallout 76 on the PS4 and I have NEVER subscribed to Fallout 1st, ever.
My friend with Fallout 1st built a scrapbox at my camp and ever since I've been able to store this and place it in other camps I have relocated to so he and other FO 1st players can use.

I'm playing the PC version now and I want to be able to do the same with the scrapbox but It will not let me build one because I don't have FO 1st. My friend on the PC version can join a private team and place a normal storage box at my camp but not the scrapbox?

We've tried to replicate this but i cannot figure it out of find info on specifically getting the scrapbox. Only thing we haven't tried is doing it in a private world. On the PS4 atom shop it comes under the 1st category but not on the PC

Can anyone help me replicate this? I just want a scrapbox so my team mates have a reason to travel to my base more often as he can't access his scrap.

This is a guess, but did you get the scrapbox during the Fallout 1st trial sometime last year?

If so you may have 'unlocked' the scrapbox then so your friend was able to build it in your camp using your unlock and not theirs.

I don't think you could do that again unless there is another trial or you subscribe.

edited to say: anyone who ever had a fallout 1st sub can build a scrapbox, if all your teammates and friends have fallout 1st... why would they need your camp? they have survival tents come with scrap boxes.
they dont need to travel to your camp, they can bring the scrap box to them.
the tents can be moved anytime. just cant be picked up until moved again.

Anyway, whilst my friends are at my camp it's useful for them to actually be able to access their stuff without needing the survival tent, like if they're at my place and I ask for scrap it's just more hassle for them. The point being is to replicate what's been done before.

i had edited out the humorous remark ... it sounded sarcastic more then funny.
as for the scrapbox... they dont need to currently have fallout 1st to build the scrap box. anyone who HAS had the sub even for one month or the free few days we had a while back.
CAN build a scrapbox... cant add to it if not currently subbed but can pull from it any time.

so why cant they build one in your camp? be in real team not public team like casual or event. you can make the private team. then if you want to do an event the team lead changes the team to what ever public focus they are going for and the bonus team stuff kicks in. i dont think public teammates can do anything but fast travel for free to your camp.
private teammates though should be able to.
I am unsure is private teammates couldnt build one at a workshop. and then the replicate as on the ps4.

Its a weird thing but its just how it seems to work. Bethesda won't change it because the box is as useful as a rock for non-1st owners.

I don't think it's intentional and this can be considered a bug/glitch But it's kinda harmless so they don't pay attention to it. Be happy you can help out others with scrapbox :)

Nailed it guys! Thank you for the info. That timing of the Free trial matches up, That's where I got the scrapbox on the PS4 then. I tried it on a PC private server a few days back with my teammate and no joy so it's definitely the free trial that did it. I'll go for a month on 1st for the PC version at least then. If you have any friends not subscribed to 1st get them to build a scrapbox at their base if the next free trial ever comes. Will save you shifting your survival tent from Fissure Prime at least lol.
