Is there a definitive best heavy weapon?
Not counting legacy items, what heavy weapon does the highest possible DPS?
Diposting pertama kali oleh Lord of Cinder:
My favorite heavy gun is anti-armor Gatling plasma. If you use energy guns of any kind, anti-armor is best by far due to the way damage is calculated for energy weapons. The plasma has pretty decent damage per shot when primed, high ammo efficiency, and some of the highest DPS you can get on a ranged heavy gun.

Btw Two-shot legendary effect sucks on non-explosive firearms and I have no idea why some value it. It's trash unless you have a missile/grenade launcher or a Fatman.

Anti-armor ultracite gatling laser is another amazing weapon. It deals notably less damage than Gatling plasma, but it has hit scan and when combined with a Power User perk card you get more than 1000 rounds per core.

Anti-armor Plasma caster is also energy, and superior to regular Gatling Gun in terms of damage per shot. Highly recommend one for daily grinding when combined with Concentrated Fire(rank 1) for headshots.

Gauss minigun is very hard + annoying to feed with ammo even with Daily Ops. I scrapped mine and no regrets.

All versions of the regular minigun are trash, except the Vampire one. The damage per shot is awful and the ammo consumption is high. Anti-armor + bashing damage can also be good when combined with shredder modification, but then it becomes a melee weapon.

Flamer is probably the highest DPS and if you get an anti-armor one, you will melt even bosses but the close-range requirement will make it bad against the Queen.

Light Machine Gun suffers from the problem of low mag capacity. 75 rounds per magazine is a joke. It's ok, but not amazing due to constant reloads.

50cal is decent until you get something better. Rarely use mine.

You can get Gauss Minigun ammo in daily ops (It uses 2mm ECC) however, the yields are poor if you are actually using the Gauss minigun to farm it. Ideally you should get the Gauss Shotgun or Gauss Rifle (Sneak build for the later) if you want to actually accumulate a decent amount of 2mm ECC.

And again, the Gauss Minigun chews through it so fast, 1 good farm of daily ops (10minutes) can yield around 1000 shots, you'll go through that in a single fight, in the cases of some of the endgame stuff.

You're better off just crafting 2mm ECC via a good lead and steel route. There are some guides on that, but I use Lucky Hole Mine for Lead (Easy 1000+ Lead per day, can only run it once per day since it's an instance interior and uses ore veins) and there are some clusters of Iron ore veins that will yield 2000+ a day in total, but it's much harder to describe those since they're often just in the wilderness with no obvious visual reference, and you're probably better off just going through West Tek with Scrapper and scrapping enemy guns.
Oh good, is there no ultracite 2mm ec ammo that is better than normal 2mm ec? I'm camped at a lead vein, and has been the single most important resource I've been after since I started playing. Can never have enough lead.

Edit: I've also been filling my ammo converter with points for the eventual use of .50 cal ammo, but honestly I think I'm just going to skip using the .50 cal, because it doesn't have enough spinning barrels for my taste. If I'm not mistaken, I can get 2mm ec from the converter as well.

Ultracite 2mm is usually not worth it for neither the Gauss Minigun nor the Gauss Shotgun. However it is worthwhile for the Gauss Rifle.

From what I understand, the Tesla capacitor on the Gauss Minigun offers more damage than the Prime receiver except on scorched/scorchbeats.

Nice. Good to know. I've got 50k points saved up on my ammo converter. That should net me a few minutes of minigun uptime whenever I get around to unlocking it.

Anti-armor is significantly better on bosses and I know because I tested both. However, if you feel like having a bunch of debuffs and lower damage on top of that is worth it, be my guest.
for me, it's gatling plasma for sustained rapid fire, and plasma caster for 1/2 shotting most normal mobs.

when sbq is flying, i'll use a prime ultracite gatling laser

Just started using an Ultracite Gatling Laser. It has much faster projectiles, but I don't think it is actually hitscan. Althought they absolutely should be, considering they're shooting light. I do like it though. I can kill basic enemies technically quicker, because I can start shooting them sooner.

What is a good/ the best heavy weapon you can craft? (plasma caster, gaus minigun ...).

Gattling plasma is an amazing option once you have the ammo perks. Plasma cores are pretty cheap at player vendors and if you use a prime reciever and super duper you will have ultracite cores for a long time. Its my goto for most of the end game stuff. I've been running on the same 120 cores for about 2 months now.

50 cal is the best balance of them all. LMG is the best dps but expensive. the guass minigun is also a great option if you have the right rolls but I would say you sacrifice some extra carry weight with it.

Anti-Armor is usually better than Junkies, but the difference is typically less than 5% and in some cases Junkies does win (Usually Junkies Explosive win over Anti Armor, even AAE)

however, for Plasma Caster and Plasma rifle (Split Damage) Anti-Armor is MUCH better, because these weapons are having to go through two armor layers essentially, so Anti-Armor overperforms.

There are some weapons Junkies overperforms too. The Gauss Shotgun especially. An Anti-Armor Gauss Shotgun gives no damage improvement if you fire shots rapidly, and less than 10% damage improvement for a full-charge attack. They changed how Armor Penetration is calculated in One Wasteland, Shotguns used to overperform on the Armor-Penetration because the game took the "Sheet" damage (Often 200+) instead of the "Per Pellet" damage, for purposes of punching through armor. To compensate, they should really make Tank-Killer effect shotguns too. Really, just make it "All Small Arms". Even then, because each pellet has such little damage, if you ignore 90% of the Armor of a boss which usually has like 500, they're still left with 50 armor which is going to be flooring per-pellet damage still.

This is so damn annoying.

Eh, I don't find it all that annoying. It has happened to me a few times, but thankfully there usually were 50ish shots left. Not much of a big deal to me. Though, it being around for a couple of years without being fixed is pretty lazy.
vikpr 13 Mei 2021 @ 4:27am
I usually run with bloodied gatling gun converted to ultracite when I use the PA build, packs a heavy punch (easily does 1k headshots on the scorched, well, besides the queen, and 400-600 on normals) and the ammo from the daily ops is so abundant that I have to vendor it now and then. A bloodied gauss minigun for the daily ops endboss works pretty well too but it's a waste for a single normal targets unless you want to tag a pack.
I tried the heavy energy weapons but they didn't click for me, that annoying reloading bug when it just randomly reloads and you end up with dozens of almost-spent cores and you waste so much time on reloading every 5 seconds. Did they fix it by the way or does it still happen?
EDIT: fixed a mistype, "bloodied gauss gun"->"bloodied gatling gun"

Have all the weapons B25 or BE, for me the best is in this order.
BE Gatling plasma > B25 gauss minigun > BE 50 cal > BE Minigun > BE Gatling Gun > BE Gatling Laser > BE LMG
