The first thing I do in any game is turn off Voice Chat and hide the Text Box.

My world is peaceful and quiet and I can do whatever I want Solo, it's the best.

yeah listening to random people eat potato chips in morgantown is awesome, listening to some kid scream at their parents because they dotn want to do chores right now brilliant stuff. hearing all across flatwoods some dbag screaming at his girlfriend to get her kids to shut up so he can play the game using soem of the most foul language with girl crying why why are you doing this to us and the kids crying. thats some excellent in game chat there i tell ya. the one where the lady walked into the room and told her husband she was divorcing him while he was in a SBQ shindig was epic. watching the PA suit stop and stand there you could feel the pain thru the ether as dead silence (except for those still fighting) then the fight really started before some one with a female voice said IVE HAD ENOUGH and there was a bunch of crashing and then the connection to dude cut off, pa suit vanished a few seconds later....yeah 99 percent of us dont like open mic mouth breathers screaming homophobic rants, and racist agendas. thats why 99 percent take a pass. i would love to use it in public events only daily ops seasonal event zones. but outside of those zones nope no thank you maybe if the 1 percent would use push to talk then maybe we would have more convos.

edit: i have to add a nice experience to balance the toxic mess fo76 voip is.
morgantown station character standing at the vendor bot. as i came across the airport from the dam, you could hear what can only be a dad talking to a real young one prolly in his lap, little boy voice saying wuts dat daddy wuts dat daddy daddy ? wuts dat...
and then the dad saying that is a robot it sells things to us that we need. boolets daddy ? yeah bullets and food, clothes, WALMART ROBOT! *mans hearty laughter* yeah walmart bot. kid: " wallmart bot wallmart bot" dad laughing then female adult voice, "whats going on" and a short explanation and another round of laughter. i didnt have the heart to go past the school bus didnt want to interrupt that wholesome family exchange... so yeah one gem out of 1200 plus hours. there have been plenty of others one asked if my name related to a boy and his dog the book and later movie that was a major influence to the fallout creators. and thats a yes but also mad max who is a man and his dog as well. its a dual reference name lol.

two great encounters with voip in game in so many months and hours... all over the joint all the events seasonal hourlies 99 percent toxicity.

My group talks in game quite a bit, maybe a little too much sometimes. I occasionally I run into others that talk but it's really not common. In 3k hours I've only had a handful of toxic encounters. I just mute block and move on. I've definitely met more interesting people than toxic. Keep talking at events and you will run into some nice people eventually.

I do have a mic, but no. I don't think I'll be using it. I've no interest in communicating with the NPC's of this game, outside of the quest givers.

I'm not interested in loud music, yelling, or homophobic and/or racial slurs. The multiplayer gaming public has completely lost the benefit of the doubt. I will never unmute any of you.

>shoots at the paper bag to make sure you see it
>spam crouches a few times after you grab it

Now ^^^this^^^ is why you don't need mics. I have one and use one for Nuclear Winter, but single player unless you are blind too, don't need a mic.

<3 Way more good folks than otherwise on this game. Often times giving newbs a good start to the game is all they need for a better experience with the game which results in a pleasant and enjoyable player base. While everyone experiences things in their lives they'd rather not share it is intensely refreshing to not have chat bubbles going (one of my largest aversions to online gaming) and the option to communicate being a personal one is also wonderful in allowing a fantastic level of anonymity for those seeking it. I will admit, it would be nice if you didn't have to chase the newbs down as they fled in abject terrified ignorance, however...
