Are floater grenades worthless?
Because they sure feel like it.

Bricks you can't even sell.

Poisons, cryogenic aren't much useful, but flamer grenades are pretty useful. You can use them to set your targets on fire with some instant damage as well as some small damage hit over time and I think that surrounding enemies are affected by them as well. Perhaps the best indicator of the quality is the amount of these grenades that you usually can get. Just check out in your inventory, I bet that you will find the flamer grenades in much smaller amounts than poisons or cryogenic, because they are more useful than the other types and so they must be more rare for better balance.

Pumpkin grenades are useful around level 50, but not much as an end game weapon.

EDIT: Although, if you max out Demolition perk, they might be useful late game as well, but that highly depends on your character build. Not everyone goes that path, even though Demolition perk is good for explosive weapons too.

use the freezing ones on the Queen

Any designer, that's not a moron, would put the weight of those grenades at or near zero if they are going to keep showing up (uninvited) into your inventory. I don't even know why those grenades are a thing except as a side effect of the usual dev autism.

My camp is next to a place where enemies spawn about half the time (raider, settlers, blood eagles, scavengers, supermutants, ghouls and that weird couple that argue). When ever the bad guys show up I practice my grenade throwing with those stupid floater grenades. When my aim is not so good and they start to overwhelm me, I lure them back to my camp and my turrets take care of the rest . . . . . . . good times

I've used them on occasion during nuke silos to knock those mainframes out, but that's it.

They made a lot of bad design decisions, weight is in mostly to force people to get fallout 1st

IMO grenades should either have a 'nanite' respawn rate so you always get them or have 'grenade goo' that the nanites convert like ammo into nades... they are bad as is

To me, all grenades are basically useless

Very heavy for such low and delayed damage...and it is rare to have more than 2 or 3 enemies in the same spot anyway
Plus, they are on the heavy melee attack key (duh...)

The 'floaters' are even worse as you cant sell them and have to do the added chore of dropping them

Up their damage by 1000%...then perhaps it would be worth to carry some
Big Boss Feb 18, 2021 @ 4:51pm
not worth it. Only grenade worth it would my the cyro grenade for bossfights
Arcanix Feb 18, 2021 @ 4:52pm
The freezing one is useful and the acid/poison one should be useful due to the DoT. Maybe they nerfed the DoT.

They're good for distracting very nooby players - the Floater sound effect can make them think they're being attacked. Chameleon trolling noobs is mean... :steammocking:
