Won't start *Solved*
**Update: Solved**

For those of you struggling with this, the solution that worked for me was to find a download to DirectX and install it. So mad that it was that simple!

Morning all, I recently had to do a clean install of Win 10 on a new SSD. Let windows do all it's updates and all drivers are current. When I click on the PLAY option with F76 it appears to start, changes to STOP, then quickly goes back to PLAY???

I have verified the game file integrity, restarted Steam several times...

Was all fine previously, had many hours of play!

I am at a loss, any of you fine people have a solution?

Thanks in advance

Hi, I had the same problem yesterday. After several failed attempts I managed to start the game after closing my web browser. It may not be what actually solved the problem, but that was the only thing that I did when it finally started again.

I have similar problem after last patch. I click start game, but nothing happens. In the task manager I can see that the process is running Fallout76.exe. I deleted the game, downloaded it again - no changes. Windows 7, x64,. full updates. I wrote to tech support yesterday, still waiting for a response.

I had the same problem. After a quick internet search, I had success with this method. The weblink posted didn't work so I found it manually, but otherwise either/or updating the DirectX and checking the NET Framework 3.5 settings got my game working again.

First i was like, naah, that gotta be random luck. Then my game didn´t start and because i am lazy i tried closing the browser before checking for direct X and netframework updates.

And closing the browser did the job. What the actual?

Wich browser do you use? FF for me.

Legacy directx link don't work atm, but start the game from the game folder. You will see what files are missing on directx so you need to download them manually.

The game uses directx11, windows 10 uses directx12 so files from directx11 will be missing when you have a fresh installed windows 10.

Hey, how's your progress with the game launch? I'm still at a dead end. I received a standard message from Bethesda tech support: update DirectX, Visual C++, remove mods, run a game file integrity check, clear the Steam download cache, check the status of services Bethesda.net live, clear the DNS, check the firewall and / or antivirus, open the game ports, reinstall the game. In short, given that 90% of all these things I did before contacting technical support, and the remaining 10% did not help in any way, I wasted my time.

Tried to start the game from the gamefolder, default steam/steamapps/fallout76 Starting the game through steam won't show the errors, but if you start it from the .exe you will see it.

Alright might be something else then, maybe graphic drivers not up to date? If turning it off in task manager, then restart it doesn't help.

Fallout 4 had similar problems, but it was because of mods.

MSI afterburner can also cause problems for the game.

Morning, thought I'd update...

So, I have done a complete fresh install of Windows 10, on a fresh clean SSD. All drivers are bang up to date and BIOS flashed. Minimal software installed.

Yet it is still happening! I am at a loss to be honest and flippin irritated!!

Anyone got anywhere?
