Stash Box Logic
So what is the logic behind the Magical Stash Box? I was surprised to find that they pop up in all the Red Rockets and Train Stations, and some other spots like the Overseer's house.

The other day I was overloaded and trying to decide what to dump, but went into a nearby Red Rocket and problem solved. If the idea is to make it easier on the player, why not just make all the ammo and chems weightless, as in vanilla Fallout 4?

The fact you're asking about stash box logic makes me feel like you just started playing this game recently, otherwise such question wouldn't make much sense, but to answer it - it's because those moments when you can just unload some stuff into your stash box with no problems are rare.

You will find out soon enough that you will have to deal with full inventory differently than just unloading everything into the stash box, because the stash box itself doesn't have an unlimited storage, so as soon as you fill it up, that's when you realize the availability of stash boxes all around the world is not as helpful as you thought unless you really know what you're doing with the things in your character's inventory and the fact that ammo itself has some weight too only makes this problem harder to solve.

The only solution is better inventory management, so rather than just dumping everything into the stash box, you will have to start thinking in advance how to manage your inventory better before you put anything into that stash box again, so even with the stash boxes being available all around the world, you will eventually run out of inventory space and stash boxes alone will not help with that, you will have to scrap, share, sell, craft, build, repair a lot, so ultimately stash boxes being all around the world is not making you overpowered at all, it's just a useful game mechanic at best...

You're right, I've been playing only about a month. I am doing what you suggested, the scrapping, crafting and repairing at least, and haven't come near the stash box weight limit yet. At one point I took everything out of the box, and did the "scrap all junk" option at a crafting bench, to make sure the junk weighed as little as possible. So the only weight limit I have encountered is what I am currently carrying.

It just seems odd and complicated, compared to making ammo and chems weightless.
OR make the game harder, without the magic transport between all the stash boxes.

to be fair, with this new +400, even the baddest inventory managing player coud solve it. 800 was already enove, 1200 now is easymode overkill.

Not for me, I would always say yes to more space, or better ways of inventory management, but it's what it is and I'm grateful for the recent limit increase.

The game is changing from a Survival-Craft game into an MMO.

So many of the things that don't fit are actually fragments from a previous system.
