Assultron or whatever laser eye robots are so broken unbalanced
Running around on a new character, trying the game out again after all the updates and these are still beyond broken.

I hear one, I think "oh ♥♥♥♥" then red screen I can't see anything and my health is gone in seconds.... no hiding, no running, you're just dead basically unless you're endgame equipped or hacked with broken op weapons....

This is just a rant post but ALT+F4 as I have no interest in running back to my corpse (no fast travel very close) and dealing with that garbage.

I wonder how would even hacked weapons help you if you're dying in seconds against assaultron because, well, y'know, weapons, even hacked ones, do not grant you survivability whatsoever.

Never really had a problem with them to be honest. Started the game a few days ago.

Enemies just lobbing multiple grenades at you from afar however...screw them.

They are one of the higher damage enemies in the game

and their unique boss is bugged (or maliciously intentionally) for 100% anti armour and can strip the health off people in a hurry

yeah even after the lvl rubberbanding patch assaultrons are still fast killers if they get you with the beam. last death with a newer char to them was when i tryed to reach watoga station, using the railways. one of the assaultrons from the outer walking wall seen me (i heared its lines of engagement) i started running, and still got toasted with a beamhit in the back.

From my experience, shooting at them until they die is a good way to prevent yourself from dying to them. :VBCOOL:

I assume this is a joke?

Because they soak a LOT of bullets and they will unload a beam on you very quickly that drains you health in seconds.

I think anyone who says otherwise is speaking from a "maxed" out character perspective with probably really good legendary armor traits and other things that help?

As a brand new level 30-ish character with whatever stuff i've found/crafted so far.... those things melt me in seconds. I've killed one or two so far while playing and it was very difficult but I was able to hide-ish.... full heal between poking my head out...

This time I was caught with nowhere to hide really and even still, the fact that they constantly cast their beam attack even if they can't see you means you basically have no chance to poke out and shoot them.

I think part of the issue is the garbage AI / combat in this game?

Earlier today I had a wendingo (or whatever it's called) using it's yell attack thingy on me through the floor above me. It got alerted to me and was just following me (on the upper floor) yelling at me every so often...

Eventually I got to a spot where I could see it and it just stood there while I shot it in the face over and over, very easy kill but annoying that it was attacking me through the floor.

Also happens all the time with super mutants, they will shoot their guns towards me even if they can't see me (from other floors or rooms)... fortunately they don't do damage, but they just constantly shoot for no reason.

I think the assaultron does the same thing, only the beam attack lasts for quite a long time and the second you pop out you start taking damage, it's not like you hear a shot, you pop out shoot once or twice, then take cover again... you just get burned every second you're in LOS to the thing

Or it gets up close and starts doing massive melee to you, and if you try to run you get beam to the back.

Somewhat of a joke, yes. Honestly, I've never had a problem with any of the enemies in any of the 3-D Fallout games, or TES games. I'd never even attempt to go near Assaultron's if I was using pipe weapons, or below level 20-30.
Edit: While I was leveling in this game, I found the shotgun to be better than everything else. The ammo is plentiful, but there will be times when you'll have to switch to another ammo type, which I suggest .308 hunting rifles or .44 revolvers. My tactic for taking on robots at that low level is get right up on them and unload as many combat shotgun rounds in to them as possible.

All robots (other than assault) are easy for sure. 2 shots with a rifle and you win. Take out both arms and they blow themselves up, saves a lot of bullets.

Assault on the other hand not only can you not take it out in 2 shots but as soon as it starts unloading the laser, you can't get LOS on it. They are somewhat rare units so it's not a game-breaking issue... but it will (at least for me) destroy my desire to continue playing when I get melted in seconds by a random one. I'll probably go back tomorrow and resume but it's just soul crushing how stupidly broken the combat vs assault is.

OMFG shoot them in the face then they cant shoot you. take out the legs. finish them off at leisure, if your feeling mean then shoot off the arms and legs and watch it explode. if legendary beware secondary explosions.
Harribo May 28, 2021 @ 12:57am
Assaultrons are strong.

But take a good galting plasma, take psycho, buffout, alcohol, medx etc
And shoot them fast
Press h on keyboard for fast stimpak

I heard also about a good melee weapon?
Because they hit you when you are near instead of using the laser.
Read that somewhere, didnt try myself
GrimyHR May 28, 2021 @ 12:58am
what are all you talking about? assaultron laser attack just heals me. noobs.
lucg May 28, 2021 @ 7:42am
Yeap, first target in a group, cripple the leg, try to stay back of the laser beam and shoot the other bots. Then finish him and cry him insanities ... !!!

While the Assaultron eye blast is dangerous, it is really mostly an issue when in wide open spaces where you cannot hide from it and then kill the bot after it finishes. As another poster mentioned, this is usually the one patrolling outside Watoga but this becomes friendly after finishing the Watoga questline.

Looking forward to the Op's next post when they step into a cave cricket nest, man I hate those f^%*ers!

This is why you do a naked run. no armor/weapon damage on death. No junk.
The survival Tent helps a lot, you can get naked pretty close to wherever you are trying to unlock.
