They are amazing for the simple reason that nothing else is in them, you can see your plants, they don't get buried under local flora and fauna
This is one of the most important things about the tiles. You can put them anywhere in your camp and not worry about all the extra ground clutter.
Instead of paying budget for crop only, you pay for crop...and for dirt
So, their worth is very debatable

Good news
Here in canada where we have 1%-2% of the worlds carbon and 95% of that is massive companies from other countries, the remaining 5% is because we live in cold areas that need heating / distant places that require driving we are paying taxes... So global warming is fixed.
