Game won't launch
I haven't touched the game in about 6 months. My game won't launch at all, it'll say it's starting, bring up the stop button, then close. Sometimes it'll play the first second of the old tv static loading sequence, then freeze and close again.

I've already tried verifying local files, uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as re-downloading directx multiple times. Nothing seems to be working.

If anyone has any information on how to fix this no launch situation, it'd be much appreciated.

I'm having same issue after i upgraded my PC. Can't enjoy my annual subscription to fallout 1st anymore. I just tried launching it from the fo76 folder and got an error code execution cannot proceed X3DAudio1_7.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix the problem. Which is odd since file checker didn't find anything wrong. Says to install directx from microsoft, gonna see if it works.

Check all your drivers are up to date...you can use driver booster to see if some are missing or need updating. Also check Windows updates as they don't always show any recent updates.

There were some out of date drivers, but even after installing them and restarting, i've still got the same problem. Although i can see the old "PLEASE STAND BY" screen now before it decides to close again.

what graphic driver are you using, nvidia or amd? because the latest nvidia driver has issues and is causing problems for a lot of users. I'm using nvidia driver version 461.40 which does work.

have you tried launching the game from the fallout folder? It gave me an error that way, when I launched from steam I wasn't getting any errors it just wouldn't launch.

It seens the error causing this is the same causing "no region ping" for game pass users
Google it may help, for me what fix it was moving the game folder to the same ssd windows is installed, if f76 is installed on a secondary ssd/hdd it just wont launch

This happens to me sporadically. I havent found a solution but if I hit play enough it will start and I can play without issue.

Relocating the install location did nothing either, and i've tried spamming the play button for about 10 minutes to no avail.

I have been having this problem since the latest patch. I often have to reboot my PC to get Fallout 76 to launch. So annoying and weird.

i figured out the problem, msi afterburner/rivatunerstatistics was keeping it from launching. but now i have another problem, it's saying "the free trial window has ended, please purchase the game", i'm starting to get pissed at this point.
