Sheepsquatch I'm po sterling - any tips?
Hi,
I'm playing a sniper build, solo.

I got a problem with Out of Blue lat boss - Sheepsquatch.

I tried to snipe it, the most I survive was about 80% HP bar, so I need to do it 5 times (but the HP bar reset after my death, so it's impossible)

Then I get smart (as I thought) idea to respect and reskill to bomber and set a lot of ME and atom mines. I made about 50 ME mines at workbench and 50 atomic mine. But mechanic of mine killed mi. I didn't know I can put only 2 mines at the time, the third one cause explosion of all placed before. So the mines trap didn't do the job.

I'm out of ideas how to kill this boss.

Any tips for a sniper solo player? I can paste my build and gear here if it would help.

(normally I can kill almost all monsters at one or two hits, even 3 start 100lvl death law alpha, but this time one shot takes about 3%of Sheepsquatch Imposterling health)

I jumped on top of the generator looking machines and kept plinking her in the face with my lever action, ducking behind everytime she got her laser beam attack off, takes a while but relatively safe long as you dont fall off for long after dodging her attack. Stealth suit is a plus sense everytime you take cover you might get tossed back into caution mode and can get a sneak attack in.

Wait. are you trying to solo Encryptid with rifleman build? Brave, but not very effective, as you can see.

Imposter sheepsquatch is one of the toughest enemies in the game and very hard to solo, you need to be very good, well kitted and you need very high DPS.
While sniper rifles do hit hard they are slow compared to full auto with much lower DPS, imposter head lasers you to death before you can deal any proper amount of damage.

If you absolutely must try soloing it you need full troubleshooter's armor set and vampire's guns (or power armor and fast firing, hard hitting gun like .50 cal or gauss mini) but I'm not sure if any semi-auto vampire's rifle can keep you healed through the fight while holding all pylons.

My recommendation is that do the event with other players, that's how it's meant to be played.

grouping is lazy you learn nothing other than plink hp away while on the roof and theres "players" that can and will ruin the experience by starting the event before your ready (your waiting for more people to turn up) or kill the boss before you get your hits in wasting your effort to begin with

there's a great feeling of accomplishment when you solo perceived "hard content" by yourself you learn new tricks and your build improves in the process and worse case no one else turns up you at least know you can complete it

Done few hundred Encryptids and that hasn't been my experience but whatever.
Great feeling? I get a great feeling when I'm co-operating with other players, helping them out etc, I don't need to prove myself by soloing them and it gives me nothing extra, I just use more resources myself for same rewards.

Nice, glad it worked for you too.

As for the other posters, Jotes was referring to the fight with the Sheepsquatch ImposterLING not the big bad one you fight in the Encryptid event - the imposterling is just a jacked up assaultron wearing a sheep on its head but because she has a ranged attack she wont run away and hide if she cant reach you with her melee attacks.

Well that explains a lot.. :D Haven't yet bothered with steel reign, had no clue there's imposterling in game and genuinely thought OP is referring to Encryptid. :D Never mind then, I'll get me coat.

you can see on his picture that he is in the bos quest instance, and that sheepsquatch is a joke, not much taffer than a normal assaultron. gauntleted it to death head on with my close combat char. not even a need to dodge it, normal assaultrons you meet much earlier are a bigger thread.

Turtle's guide is the best, you should have no issue solo'ing the Sheepsquatch using those techniques as a stealth build.

I solo it without sneak, just by using a little bit of Troubleshooters gear, a heap of stimpaks and an Antiarmor Enclave Plasma Flamer.

I usually target the legs first, then the head, when it's crawling. I always stay hidden and change position sometimes, to avoid getting hit.

If it can't run, perhaps you can keep the distance and control the fight? Otherwise move when it moves, staying hidden, keeping the distance.

I don't remember if tormentor (modern renegade for pistols) perks help there, i think they might.

(Edit: the stealth suit works like a charm with the assaultron event, different topic, though)
(Edit2: The post has the different topic, silly me, the above edit counts.)

Black powder rifles. Not one - my stealth sniper currently has 5 favorited, and they make the first few seconds of any boss fight extremely devastating to the boss. The game used to make you wait to almost finish reloading he black powder rifle before you could switch to another weapon, but recently that nonsensical slowdown has been fixed.

With sheepsqatches, as another poster mentioned, you can go for the legs to slow em down, then open up on the head or torso. You can't switch weapons while VATS is enabled, so you'll arm your first BPR, open VATS, target the leg, fire, close VATS, switch to your next pre-loaded black power rifle, open VATS, target the head/torso, fire, close VATS, switch to the next, reopen VATS, fire etc all while backing up. If you took out its legs, even after you've fired your initial 5 pre-loaded shots, if it's still alive you can either switch to a semi-auto sniper rifle to finish them off (mine's a scoped hunting rifle) or back up and wait for the last black powder rifle you fired to finish reloading.

Farm Dragons from Free States vendor bots in Berkeley Springs station and Whitespring resort and roll them to legendary. Have 3 bloodied already, one explosive that is just bonkers and several other nice prefixes. Takes ages to reload but have superior range and even higher damage compared to BPR.

They do, but the biggest detriment (for me) was not being able to switch rifles until the one you just fired had taken 2-3 seconds to reload before you could switch, and, switch too quickly, you still don't have a bullet in the chamber of the BPR.

Now that you can change weapons immediately, the reload time isn't quite so terrible. It is when you run out of loaded rifles, but that's why I still hang onto a semi-auto rifle, for the times my BPR doesn't quite kill or I run out of rifles and am taking on some swarming enemy like ferals. Playing stealth, too, you can usually use the same rifle 2-3 times before the caution becomes danger.

Easily done. Nuke it.

But you do need a teammate to either watch the sheepsquatch or trigger the nuke. Otherwise it would despawn.

So this should be the easiest method compared to atrocities like "rolling dragons" or "social distancing".

So you nuke yourself. Not like anyone else is around to steal your stuff, even if it still dropped during events. The reward people are after is for completing the event, not the trash legendary that drops.
