Then you'll want to buy the serums from Player Vendors who sell them. You can try to get them out in the wild, but not all Mutations are good for your build and getting rid of one you don't want is a pain.
Perk that lowers the negative effects will reduce the amount of negative special points. Carnivore prevents you from getting any benefits from Fruit or Vegetable food. Certain mutations don't have negatives that can be reduced because the don't exist or, like carnivore, it's an on/off thing.
#1 starched genes
#2 hit up higher level camps with aid items for mutation serums, you can find them for as little as 100 caps per (if a high level guys being generous to newbies, I do 233 because it prevents higher level guys from scooping them and reselling them for enough profit for them to care) right up to 1000 caps (if a newbie is being greedy)
Most often they will see around the 300-500 range mark... I would suggest when you see the one you want just buy it, caps are plentiful and it could be a while before you encounter them again
Right now I'm on my exp build, so I've overdone int to 20

As you can see I'm heavily mutated with 9 different mutations
They have very little downside, especially with the strange in number and class freak perks helping out (strange in numbers = 25% better positives, class freak = 75% less downsides) and you almost always run in groups with people with most (but not all) of these mutations
In addition I use
Food:
Cranberry Relish - 37.5% exp
Brain Fungus Soup - 7.5 int (~25% exp)
Gourd soup 7.5 per
Blight soup 75% critical
Tato Salad Surprise ~20 ap regen (iirc)
Tato Soup 37.5 more ap
Steeped Fern Flower tea 7.5 strength (new addition)
Drugs:
Berry Mentats - 5 int + detection of living = 15% more exp
Magazine:
Live and Love 3 = 50% boost on my foods
Booze:
Ballastic Bock - ~15% more ballastic damage (iirc)
The Class Freak card makes a world of difference if you are running multiple mutations. If you only run one or two, especially something like Carnivore is a waste of three perk cards.
CF reduces the negative by 75%. So for example Eagle Eyes lowers your strength by 4, but if you have Class Freak maxed out it only lowers it by 1.
extra reload speed + max move speed (20% move speed is max, you can get it from a number of different ways, but speed demon alone caps it)
Yes to this. If you have the spare caps and the vendor has the serums, buy two at a time.
Before I knew what I was doing I had unequipped Starched Genes one time and accidentally removed a couple mutations. Nothing like being used to jumping 20 feet in the air and suddenly having what feels like lead shoes on. Finding another Marsupial serum took forever.
Also, I went with Carnivore, but I'm really leaning to herbivore now. I may swap one day, but I have the serums to rebuild if needed.
I have legendary perception and strenght, but thanks for the advice!
It will do this for any of the legendary perk cards when you upgrade it will tend to unequip things
its a pain but it happen
yeah i know that it's normal i just thought it odd that it always unequipped starched genes when i had it at the top, the bottom or in the middle of the stack
Always unequip the one that can really screw you over.
