You're.
Oh, and it's never too late.
I love one wasteland because now I have level appropriate enemies all across the map, and not only on certain spots. Before I used to melt through 80% of the map effortless, which is not fun at all.
Edit:
Also, there are still some easier enemies and harder ones. There's just not that many one hit kills anymore.
After you're a certain level there are enemies ranging from level 50 up to 100.
I do not believe I have any bad builds. I have several characters and can completely smash pretty much everything that's level scaled with no trouble in the early to mid game.
I can't go anywhere for a reasonable challenge until I hit the late or endgame, and at that point you're fighting things that are level 50-100 which is the same thing you used to experience as a level 10 if you went somewhere with level 15 to 20 enemies. Now you're losing out on the ability to have that kind of challenge, and to go where you probably shouldn't, in the early and mid game. You could always do this in the other Fallout games. Yes, I'm thinking all the way back to Wasteland, Fallout, Fallout 2... etc. Yeah, I know some of the newer games had limited scaling systems, but not the full on equal to you all the time (before endgame) system that 76 has.
I have gone and played something else. I haven't touched this game since October. I just saw an big update install on Fallout 76 today and it made me consider why I stopped playing. After thinking about it that reason was the One Wasteland update. Level scaling ruined the game for me and I think it was a huge mistake. There are several articles and videos out there about level scaling and why it's generally a bad thing in RPGs and MMORPGs.
Sure thing El Duderino.
There's no penalty for playing "wrong" at all.
One thing that bugs me about it is that it is hard to have 'fun' builds. I've been playing around with high health characters and the damage output on some is pathetic, even with high damage perk load outs and weapons.
For example I have a Crusader pistol (2* Furious/Limb damage) modded for fire character and it takes 7 shots on average to kill a Ghoul... That is with 60% gunslinger, tenderiser, concentrated fire for head shots, eagle eyes mutation, tank killer, even adrenal reaction mutation. And those 7 shots drain my AP ~200 so if grim reapers sprint doesn't proc I'm stuck ADS/hipfire for awhile. It's not fun as tougher mobs are a boring exchange as they won't kill me but I take so long to kill them.
However, if you play the ubiquitous low health stealth commando the issues aren't as pronounced as there is a lot of over-kill built into the play style. Some will like it, some will hate it and it usually depends on which side of the balance scale they sit.
you said it best. if you dont like it. dont play it.
