I've waited way longer than dividing an hour by 17 would take for the surviving crop to grow when things get smashed by this bugged settler I can't kill.
but here is the catch they only grow to the storage space they have like water makers so if you stood at 1 plant for 1h real time and pulled every one that spawned you will get said amount per hour
same with all the makers of items
crops max space is 2
water gen is 5
So if you plant 17 Tato plants and come back an hour later, you'll have 17. If you come back 30 minutes later, you'll only have 8 spread across 17 plants.
Aaaah.... so the point of having more plants is to increase the storage space and thus reduce the amount of times you need to return to base to pick them, if you wanted full production? That's .... it's not logical with how plants work, but it's clever.
