Mods allowed in Fallout 76?
After the reinstallation of Fallout76 I now have a "MODS" directory. Does that mean that mods are now allowed in Fallout 76?

Interesting, the answer is still no, unless they changed the ToS

I don't think so. Unless it's retextures.

Do you have Fallout 76 Quick Config by any chance?

Probably something to do with the custom worlds they are putting in today.

mods are not supported, but the devs have made it so you can modify your adventure mode or play in a modified adventure mode they came up with depending on if you have a premium deal or not. many mods are not mods they are cheats. other mods change the ui or inventory screens. shrugs they cause issues with many. especially on update days when update overwrites mods or changes.
texture enhancements not texture removals mods and reshades, even client side skin usage... are not triggering flags on accounts. things that change the world space, or give too much vision. what any multiplayer game would call a cheat. and would get flagged for human review. the games new update is giving players modification options of a limited sort. this is the start of a evolving system for customizing the game. which will hopefully eventually result in limited authorized mods to be used. from a bethesda catered website and thru their system. like fallout 4 and its shop for mods and paid content.
maybe even the atom shop with a new category. for now its what it is. options and settings for pvp and weather and many other little things... basically server admin stuff.
hope the future pans out to expanded modding and private server listings.

I've already tried a few mods from the Nexus, none of the modders update their mods, you're better off not even modding it at all.

as far as I know you could use mods from Nexus mods since theyre client side. as long as they wouldnt give you unfair advantage over playing in PvP I think or something like that

Mods have always been allowed. Bethesda just doesn't offer any support if they cause an issue.

https://help.bethesda.net/app/answers/detail/a_id/44429/~/can-i-use-mods-or-other-third-party-programs-with-fallout-76

"Fallout 76 does not support the use of any mods, add-ons, or other third-party programs. Please be aware that the use of such applications may result in Fallout 76 not functioning properly."

tl;dr
We don't care, but if you break the game it isn't our problem.

It is still against the ToS to cheat though. So don't use any type of modding program that gives you an advantage like other's have said before me.

I saw that there are mods that abbreviate the names of the items. That shouldn't be a cheat, should it?

dont think so, it doesnt give you unfair advatange over others and it isnt modding items into the game itself. I used to run inventory tweaks mod where I could see how much weight exactly each category of items (weapons etc) had and it gave me some more sorting options. It is sad to see modders think of quality of life improvements sooner and make it better than Bethesda, it is what it is though

Sounds like a wrong information.
Ohwait, it actually is wrong information indeed.

Been using mods for ages.

Ironically, the best mods are the ones that have been added to the game, but in a crippled state. Soon as the mod makers worked around it, back using them again!
