Relocating your camp? Your shelter is safe.
This may be common knowledge but I was unsure about it and couldnt see a post about it so I tested it on an alt. After putting a few items into my shelter, I relocated my camp and then placed the shelter again. Upon entering, all the things I placed in there was still there. So if anyone was wondering, your shelter is not effected when you move your camp in my experience.

Fairly self explanatory what scrapping means and does.

The shelter entrance is the only thing telling the game you have a shelter for the above ground camp. Your shelter and all its contents you have built are only actually there in game when you enter and load into the shelter.

The shelter entrance essentially contains all the information of what is built inside the shelter like the table of contents of a book. When you are above ground only this "table of contents" exists as your instanced shelter is not loaded in the game engine.

If you scrap the shelter entrance this "table of contents" is deleted along with it. It doesn't store it as you now have no shelter. Now you know.

Actually all 3 variants house all your stuff provided you built in them if you scrap shelter doesnt matter your stuff is there if you build that shelter again
I still feel rather ignorant about the issue but from my understanding it does say in the title "Entrance" which makes me to believe that its just like adding a door to a wall in a sense. For you to have scraped the shelter items inside would need to be done manually or via the console on the wall but could very well be wrong. Going to test later and update if I remember lol.

You said you scrapped the shelter and lost everything inside. Why didn't you just rebuild it? You just said it will still be there even after scrapping and rebuilding?

So your saying you experienced some kind of bug?

Good to know. Can only comment on your actual experience, which made it sound like the way the mechanics are supposed to work was not working.

At least it is clear for all of us now that it isn't all lost after scrapping the shelter entrance.

So basically you can have 3 shelter variants at the same time but you stuff is only bound to that one shelter which i hope they change
