The only options you have is to trade with players or use the Ammo Converter. The Ammo Converter is obtainable via season reward or you buy it from raider reputation vendor with gold bullion.
I find the Ammo Converter to be entirely too tedious. Not really worth wasting your time on.
1. Deposit ammo into storage
2. Press process on machine
3. Receive readout on points gained and new total
4. PROFIT.
That's it, just get a combat rifle and put a .38 automatic reciever on it and burn it off having fun. Also the ammo convertor is nice. I used to collect junk for missiles and mini nukes to make with ammosmith, super duper and ammo factory, dump them into the convertor to max it out and never worry about ammo for a while.
only fo game i remember scraping ammo was fonv and it was a pain as well
i drop hundred of rounds every play through because im a plasma user
That's the truth. You don't need to pick everything up. I leave piles of loot everywhere, especially after I hit the daily cap limit at the vendors. Especially ammo and junk, if I don't use it I don't need it.
This 100% this
Put it in your vending machine at 1 cap a pop, lots of it sells that way
otherwise you can just drop extras at common places (purveyor, raider/settler) and gift it to others
Level 600 here, i carry loads more ammo then food, i have maybe 5 pieces of food in my inv and rarely any stimpaks.
From my experience bandoiler is a really practical perk to have.
you are certainly right about the food though.
