Launch a nuke and make sure that the monogah mine icon on the map is within the blast zone. Common curtousy is to put the icon on the very edge of the blast zone so that everyone doesn’t have to run through a bunch of highly irradiated wasteland to get to the quest.

^ This

Everyone puts the nuke directly on it and it's annoying, the gear I use isn't suited for radiation so I have to unequip it and trog through the radiation with Chinese Stealth suit while encumbered....

Use google.

Run the main quest line, it’ll explain 90% of it. There is an annoying bit where you have to use real-world decription to get a code, or you can cheat and go online.

if you have to ask how to start the new event, then you dont goto the official website. if you have to ask how to launch a nuke you are not ready for the end game style event. go level up because no one is goign to show up to yourevent to carry you.

Yikes guys we were all here at some point...

It is quite a long-winded process and not really worth it so I would recommend just waiting for someone else to nuke the mine. It will happen eventually because everyone want to play the new event. Other people nuking the mine will still count toward the quest for you, as long as you are on the server during the moment the nuke hits.

You don't have to nuke it yourself, just join the event when someone else nukes it and survive all the way through. That's what I did.

I think the event is instanced so it's only a couple randomly assigned people per group, right? I haven't played the event myself yet, but I get the feeling that I just did the event, and if you don't know how to launch a nuke (follow the main quest, the old one not the one with foundation/crater) you aren't ready for the event yet. It's not just about being high level, but you need some pretty good equipment and lots of ammo for it.

Not sure since i finished the mains a while back but I was in with a different group who set off the nuke and I got everything they did. You can only finish the "Something Sentimental" quest by finishing the event which will give you the key item, it is part of the reward and not on the colossus. Sorry for any spoilers.
