Fallout 76
so how "polluted" with microtransactions is this game?
I heard there is a sub-model that allows you to play on private servers because by default you are in gank-world? How extensive are the store items? Cosmetic only or P2W? I get easily frustrated by games that hide content and features behind paywalls. I rather pay more up front to be rid of that stuff.

Just a quick run-down would help.

Gank world? Hahahaha

Nah, Bethesda took just about all the pvp elements out of the game, you can't really get ganked unless you engage in pvp yourself, apparantly people don't like dying to other people in a post apocalyptic survival game.

As for the sub model, its totally optional and you don't need it to get the full game experience, what it will help you with is spending a little less on fast travel (due to having a placeable tent that is a free fast travel point) aswell as a bit less stash management early on.

There is nothing that I would personally consider Pay 2 Win on the store, it is all mostly cosmetics except for scrap and repair kits, both of which will be available to earn for free through the act of playing the game with the upcoming seasons update.

There is no content hidden behind a paywall, you get access to all of the same quests and weapons and loot etc. as everybody else, your base just might not look as pretty as someone who spends money on atoms, but it will be just as functional, possibly even moreso (Considering bases are really just a place for you to go and craft and scrap and store stuff, the more elaborate a base becomes, the less functional it really is).

Finally, you can earn atoms through the act of playing the game! There are currently Daily and Weekly challenges that earn you atoms in small amounts, but they will be removed in place of S.C.O.R.E accumulators for the upcoming seasons. There are still a heap of other once off challenges that will earn you thousands of atoms just by playing the game. Finally, with seasons there is actually a whole heap of FREE content for you to unlock, so you will earn S.C.O.R.E points to progress through 100 ranks of the season, with each rank unlocking new cosmetics, atoms, caps, perk packs and scrap and repair kits.

Hope this answers your questions!

Surely having better gear than the next guy is a winning state otherwise what is the point of trying to get good gear? Seeing as the P2W model is almost exclusive to online games yet by your logic an online game can't be "won" then you've just made a term redundant in it's entirety.

So why is said term still used everywhere if it is obsolete?

Because people do not seem to grasp that "P2W" and "P2P" are two very VERY different things.

Plus they completely forget that Pay2Win was originally meant for PVP type games.

"ingame advantage" defines P2W. Your personal interpretation of cutting down grinding or progression is just a weak justification.

Denied!

It's not a "Personal interpretation" It's what the definition of the two terms actually means. But do go on on how a fridge that doesn't increase storage space or scrap kits that barely help when 90% of carry weight issues aren't junk related and repair kits that aren't any more or less useful than doing the repairs yourself help me "Win" a game with no "Win" state.

You know P2W isnt inherently "bad" as you seem to assume so you go to its defense. There are without a doubt advantages to be had for real money = P2W. Your agressive demeneor ini this regard doesnt change the facts. And while its true that the term has been "softened" over the years its still valid and of importance to me so thanks for your input but I dont need to change my understanding nor do I need to accept your view on this /cheers

Fallout 76 very much has win conditions btw :)
I have stopped a bit of playing the game ,what's about the s.c.o.r.e thing? Now to get some atoms i will need to do daily and weekly to get score and then get atoms with it? Like a season thingy ?

Agreed. Otherwise the term P2W would not exist.
