Cap is 30k per character.
Technically you can have more, but that requires creating another character and building up another 30k.
Common practice for those who trade high end items. The other method is to use an alternative currency like 5.56 ammo. One round of 5.56 = 1 cap.
centrally located camp i pop there as a lay over to the next hop costs much less that way to travel. every time i stop im grabbing like 75 water and scrapping w/e junk ive managed to collect. off to the vendor bot and rinse repeat. *shrugs* yuou figure the game out the longer you play and everyone can do all kinds of things to earn caps and manage stats etc... too many choices and builds really but thats how the game works. a bit of everything for everyone and never doing one thing to excess.
jack of allt rades kind of game you farm tatos he farms water the next camp collects lead and so on and so forth. everyone figures it out or skyscreams about the little things...
