Rifleman or heavy weapons build?
Currently I'm level 22 so I haven't really developed that much, but I was considering getting into a rifleman build and I already bought the blueprint for a level 25+ lever action rifle. However I noticed that some people use heavy weapons as their goto weapon which seemed pretty interesting.

I'm partially interested in which one is more effective, but I'm not at the point in the game where I'm focusing on DPS and grinding as I'm still in the "exploring phase".

So, which build in your opinion is more fun/satisfying to use in the long run? I'd like to focus on having an enjoyable experience before I delve into min-maxing.

Thanks.

Right now, I'm running both builds with 15 Strength and 12 Perception. 15 Strength is enough to have all the Heavy Weapon damage perk cards and some utility. While the 12 perception is enough for all the rifle damage perk cards and the Tank Killer perk card.

I went 50-50 and did both.
I stunted my MAX Damage doing this, but it allows me to play both Heavy and Rifle (both of which I like)

I did 15 on Strength, 7 on Perception, 15 on Intelligence (because I went Power Armor), and 7 on Luck (even if you don't use 7 pnts, at least get the Bloody Mess Perk)

I have 2 characters, one is a bloodied rifleman and the other is a bloodied power armor heavy. They're both fun to play with but of course they have a different style. If you like tanking shots and going in guns blazing, go for heavy power armor build. if you like to sneak and 1-2 shot everything, then go for rifleman. you can even go for commando with the rifleman character if you choose to grind for those cards. as for heavy, you can switch it to a melee power armor if you grind for the melee cards. both are very fun, can't choose between the two, so that's why i have 2 characters lol.

the problem with bloody builds is most players refuse to team with you though since many of the charisma perks are null and void with them in team so your stuck with people with lower charisma or other bloodied builds and many of the radiation zones (and many more coming) are basically death sentences

I have a rifleman character (140) and a heavy weapons build (185) both are valid options but have different designs and play styles - power armor designs are easier to get gear for since the armor isn't legendary but rifle characters not in power armor can rapidly find gear that outshines power armor - junkies power armor builds though can cut a scorch beast out of the air in 2-3 secs though with massive rapid fire with long ranges - while the rifle characters are often more precision and able to kill with far far fewer bullets making them easier to resupply

really end of the day why not just play both and make 2 characters? its a mmo go nuts

Gauss Minigun
ForgeTec 27 ABR 2020 a las 16:12
Gauss minigun is nice but its pretty end game

Good heavy weapons to look for earlier on
Gatling gun (high damage long range low fire rate so easier to keep in ammo)
Laser Gatling - good rates of fire long reach pretty easy to find fusion cores or just a power plant
gatling plasma is easy to make plasma cores for and solid range and damage
50cal - solid damage solid ammo crafting good range - pretty solid all over

Meh Heavy weapons
Minigun - eats bullets low damage you basically have to saw them in half
LMG - freaking no..... .308 ammo is a pain in the freaking (20 min screaming rant)

Niche
Harpoon Gun / Flamer - useful in their own way

Heavy guns has higher dps than auto rifle. (non-auto rifle dps is low)
Melee works well too (if your target doesn't fly).
Main problem with melee is running out of strength picks even with 15 strength...

For 1shotting stuff, 2hand melee does the highest alpha, followed by sneak+rifle.

You have a link to your build?

I did the same. I caved, and ended up getting the Adrenal Reaction mutation. At 60% health, I'm quite deadly, and quite happy^^

Is it hassle having to switch between the two? How often do you use one over the other?
Etny2k 27 ABR 2020 a las 20:27
I am aiming for unarmed melee and heavy minigun. All perks buffing melee and none buffing heavy weapon. My buff will be juinkies. 5 addictions +50% dmg.

Stealth rifle build, great for any enemy. Well, except some bosses maybe. Use handmade, combat rifle or hunting rifle.

Heavy builds are good too. Plus you look badass holding a heavy. Use 50 cal. or gattling. Those are pretty much the most used builds probably.

Forgedrake LMG with .308? mine eats .50

Rifleman for economy both ammo and durability, heavy for dps meta also looks good while using PA.

If you want economic heavy, you can use gatling gun or plasma caster
