Wastelanders is a second chance. Let Bethesda have that chance.
I am quite a new player to Fallout 76 so my allegiance lies with no side at this time. I got the game for free and never played it until a couple of weeks ago because I was really really bored. i goofed off and did some stuff and had a little bit of fun every now and then. The community in the game is one of its strongest points, I literally had a guy come up to me, drop 2,000 shotgun shells at my feet along with a bunch of serums, and left only with a heart emote. The game is definitely buggy in some areas, damage not registering is still a thing that seems to have carried on since launch. Disconnects aren't rampant but can happen at random times ( I had about 3 in a week). I only state this so no one can use the argument that I am either a sheep who blindly hates the game or a blind fanboy who will defend Bethesda with my life. But, continuing onto the main point of my post.

Wastelanders is a chance for the devs at Bethesda to redeem themselves. Not Todd Howard and Pete Hines and the other executives, the devs. The people who sit at their desk making changes and working their ass off to get the game in a playable state. Let the devs have this chance. Not to forgive Bethesda as a whole, the executives are still greedy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but the people who put in the work. If Wastelanders has a horrible launch with a bunch of server disconnects (with a valid reason, not that someone DDOS'd the servers to stop people from playing), it has a bunch of bugs that are game breaking, and the changes are absolutely for the worst, then by all means flood the store page with negative reviews. Hell, I will be one of them too if its bad, in fact come back to this post in about a week and check the review section of my profile as proof. But, if Wastelanders is fun, bugs are few and far between, and the servers hold up, then why not leave a positive review? Not to support Bethesda the company, but to support the people who sat at desks working long arduous hours to fix the product?

Many will make the comparison that No Mans Sky was given a second chance, why not Bethesda? The answer is that No Mans Sky was made by a small indie studio who just didn't know when to say no, Bethesda is much bigger than that. So I will use much bigger companies that made turnarounds with their games for the better. Ubisoft turned around Rainbow Six Siege, The Division 1, and Ghost Recon Wildlands into great games after their horrible launch. Zenimax turned Elder Scrolls Online into a much better game after its rocky launch through free updates and paid DLC. Bungie was able to get away with releasing broken products twice in a row with Destiny 1 and Destiny 2, only fixing them through paid DLC. Even EA for crying out loud was able to fix Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Battlefield 5 (Although DICE should be getting all the credit since they are the developers) and get away with that.

This is Bethesda's chance. Give the guys behind the game that. Again, if it turns out horrible then by all means a negative review. But, if its good, then give them a positive one. Thanks for reading, stay safe.

A second chance? they dumbed down Elder Scrolls with Skyrim, tried to destroy the good will of the modding community with paid mods, they ignored the advancements in New Vegas and dumbed down Fallout 4, they brought back their paid mods, and the sheer number of issues with 76 are so numerous that it would take several posts to list them all, and you think they deserve another chance?

Anyone who buys this legit forfits any right to complain about any issues in any Bethesda title, and any terrible practices in the industry as a whole. YOU are the reason it's so bad. YOU are the reason Bethesda get away with so much. YOU are the cancer that killed this hobby.
Not at all. of course Bethesda has made many mistakes in the past, yet I am looking at this from the point of the people who worked on the game, not from the company as a whole. Do you think it was the people making the games that chose that paid mods should become a thing? Do you think that the people making the games chose how everything turned out behind it and not influenced in any way by the executives? Also, I did not buy this, a friend gifted it to me as a joke since it was my birthday, so I spent no money on it lol. And no, I am not the reason it is so bad. I only started playing a couple weeks ago, not since launch. I do not defend this game with a blind passion and will call out issues when I see them. I am not the reason Bethesda gets away with so much, it is those that buy their products whatsoever. Every Bethesda game I have has been gifted to me by a friend so they have made no money from me. And no, I am not the cancer that killed this hobby. Fallout 76 is not the only game out there, and there are other companies who have done so much work to push this industry in the right direction. I have done nothing, I am just one of the bllions of people who plays games in this world. Nothing is on me.
Certainly sounds like your friend has a lot to answer for.

Fallout 76 WAS there second chance.
Fallout 4 was their first mistake.
Fallout 4 wasn't bad persay, but it wasn't a true fallout game to a lot of people and I understand that. It was fun to run around and murder things in a post apocalyptic setting, but other than that it was pretty mediocre. I would definitely say it made mistakes in a lot of ways but not enough to constitute that Fallout 76 was there chance to redeem themselves.

They've had plenty of time to turn 76 around before a steam release.
Remember how No Mans Sky had a bunch of smaller updates like "Pathfinder" and "Foundations" and then they had the huge one that completely changed the game called "Next"? I see their past updates "Wild Appalachia" and "Nuclear Winter" as those smaller updates, with "Wastelanders" maybe being the Next of Fallout 76. It takes a lot of time to fix a game that was broken as this was, same with any of the games I listed off on my original post.
Here the problem with your logic and why everyone using No Mans Sky as an example is flawed. No Mans Sky was not a broken mess of a game. It technically functioned for the most part perfectly fine the issue everyone had with it is that they marketed an entirely different version of the game than it turned out to be on release. Technically as well NMS is still not what we saw in the initial trailers but they've added enough content to the game of a different sort to satisfy a lot of customer that and the price gets heavily discounted frequently enough to make it worth it. The one thing Fallout 76 had in common was the false advertisements about how much better the game looked over Fallout 4 and all that which turned out to be pretty much a lie. Fallout 76 is a buggy mess of a game on release and is STILL just as buggy despite having months to fix things that are still wrong with it. It's also a game entirely focused on multiplayer and had HUGE game breaking incidents with cheaters that took far too long to fix. In NMS you didnt have to worry about someone coming up to you and jacking you for everything you owned in a second. You also never had the issue of everything you stored just disappearing on you because of yet more bugs. Bethesda is also a significantly larger company with a lot more resources at their disposal so they are cut less slack. A huge contributing factor to the 76 outrage is the fact that this has been a long time coming for Bethesda because they have a long history of making buggy games but they had story and content to fall back on and the community had the ability to fix the game themselves in the form of mods. Fallout 76 was the breaking point for a long of people long long disappointed in Bethesdas continued lack of care for anything but the almighty dollar. Also NMS didn't charge extra for anything while Fallout 76 is akin to a damn mobile game in it's money making schemes. There are many more differences as well but i've gone on long enough.

It fundementally failed as an RPG, and as a Fallout title. The issues of having a voice protag with a developed backstory alone broke every rule in the RPG book, even Skyrim didn't go that far.

I definitely agree in that statement that you can't really compare the 2 games. I was just using the update model of a couple small ones and then a big one. That is all I was really trying to do.

Definitely agree that those are some really major issues with it. It was more of a sandbox fallout game than a true fallout experience. Personally I would love to see a return to form with a much darker setting and much deeper RPG elements, while also retaining the combat of Fallout 4 as that was something that was really well done in my opinion.

I'm going to.stop you right there bro... The case on Destiny 2 isn't about being bug ridden like the POS FO76 year 1-3. Destiny 2 was very stable and even runs on a toaster. The problem with Destiny at Launch was that people browsed so fast on contents because most of them are casual PVE players. Those of us that frequent RAIDS and PVP stuck with the game. The only gripe I had with Destiny 2 was the random encounters with cheaters in competitive PVP but even that is a 1:100 scenario. There are also some gripes with imbalance weapons but even that was proven untrue by content creator, it was just gripes of casual players who are not capable of countering weapons on scenarios in PVP

It wasn't bug ridden but it was still a game with a horrible launch that had a good turnaround. That was the point I was trying to make along with most of the games I mentioned such as Battlefront 2 and Battlefield 5. Both had very few bugs but launches were really really bad.

Combat and exploration is the only reasons outside of modding it to be a horror game I have so many hours played. They did a great job in that regard thanks to Zenimax. However I can't see Bethesda making any kind of return to form, they've been dropping the ball since Morrowind and getting worse and worse with each release. I mean FO1 and 2 established that people were over the nukes and were living in functional cities again, yet FO4 has us building shanty towns and the great green jewel is like 10 houses big and covered in trash like no one ever discovered what a broom was. I have no hope for them.

I guess there's Fallout 4: New Vegas and Fallout: Miami, right?

Miami looks sick! and have you seen the mod coming to FNV, Fallout: The Frontier? It looks so good as well.
