Small goes to 2
Medium go to 5
Large go to 10
I believe that's the cap for each of them.

Mine is large, never went to 10 after 10 minutes of game play... It says 60 water per hour.
Silly, they just capped it so you cant make quick caps. So the grind is longer
The small water purifier has a concrete base and can be placed outside of water, though it requires 8 power to produce 12 cans of purified water per hour with max storage of 2.

The normal water purifier takes less power, with only 4, and produces more purified water, with 24 cans per hour with max storage of 3. However, it must be placed in water to work.

The industrial water purifier produces a quantity of 60 cans of purified water per hour for 10 power with max storage of 5; it must also be placed in the water to work.

Got the info here https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Water_purifier_(Fallout_76)

Not really much of a grind, considering they are so cheap it would produce so much water without the cap.

it has always stored 5 water, atleast since i have been playing (December), it can produce 60 water per hour but you need to be gathering the water, since it can only hold 5

Though it doesn't seem to actually create 1 a minute, so I'm pretty sure the 60 an hour is wrong, still I run 7 of them to get some quick easy cash, grab it each time I'm in camp, store them, then sell them enmasse, though, it's not really needed now so much.

I run 3 of the basic ones in a pond at my camp and got nearly 200 bottles sitting in my stash at times, but got enough crops I turn it into adhesive and diluted chems (which I then sell with the bonus of XP). Just like how I snag all crops/meat and bring it back to cook/process for xp before dumping what I don't need.
Years later the numbers on them still wrong and lie after the nerf hahaah

You have to loot it before it can make more. Every resource generator in this game is like that. This is not Fallout 4. MMOs like this make you work for everything. You have to come back and take the water every 5 minutes before you can have the max 60 water per hour.

I sell all gernades 1st, then extra chems, then whatever last I have of water.

I never have to sell anything else daily, to get 1400 caps.

Getting waters isn't a problem. I usually end up with hundreds stockpiled in storage because I can't sell everything. Players often make their water available to visitors so you can harvest their waters, too, and vice versa, so it's easy to end up with water coming out your posterior.

I believe large caps at 5 and medium a bit less than that, all five of my purifiers cap at 5 and I'm sure they are large.

All you people getting confused with FO4 lol

There are only 2 purifiers in 76, regular (2) and industrial (5)

*not counting skin/variants

There are 3. One that is on a small concrete pad that can be placed anywhere that holds 2 water. And 2 more that need to be placed in water, one of which holds 3 and the other 5.

The smallest one can be bought, but its more likely you'll get it by taking your first workshop area. The smaller of the ones that require water can be found in the Charleston DMV Overseers Cache. The largest one (the industrial one) must be bought.
