Where can I find the gas station sign plan?
This is a sign that looks like a gas station sign with prices on it. I really want this sign to replace that crappy Crane's Treasure Hunting one, because my camp kinda looks like an old run down gas station that has been converted to a house.
If anyone would know where I can find(location) this sign plan I would be soo happy.

I'm pretty sure I got the plans as a reward for defending a workshop.

Ohh, well I don't mess with workshops. That kinda sucks.
Defend from other players or creatures that attack it?

Creatures, if you claim a workshop you regularly get 'defend (so and so)' events, like the Defend Sanctuary or whatever sidequests that came up in Fallout 4.

Yup. They're an easy way to get random loot. Most people in public probably capture it just for those event rewards, and not actually build anything. If they lose it to another player, oh well, they didn't spend resources anyway, so nothing of value is really lost.

About a minute or two after you claim a workshop you get an event to defend it from in coming monsters. Place some turrets out after claiming the workshop and they'll do most of the work.

It goes 1-3 waves then you get a reward. You don't need to hold the workshop longer than that if you're worried about PvP.

But its possible the plan can drop from normal PvE events too. Check plans on the robot vendors too.

I don't understand the defense part of Workshops. I don't think I've ever successfully had a camp defend itself, regardless of the amount of defense I put. I'll get a "defense completed" quest, (of which I think I get no reward, can't remember) and then immediately get a "claim back" quest. How did I "complete a defense" if the next quest step is to take it over again?

I return to the base anyway and find the enemies still attacking the base, as if they haven't claimed it yet. The reward for a retake seems to be largely the same as if you just defended it on time.

You need to be in the workshop during the attack to get the reward for defending it. If you're not you have to do the claim back version. Rewards seem about the same to me, other than having to repair damage to whatever you built there.

I've had turrets do most of the work on a wave. There's usually a straggler that stays just out of reach and requires a personal touch.

Okay, I"m not doing anything wrong then. The turrets I build do indeed do most of the work.......when I'm there. I thought building adequate defenses meant you could avoid having to defend it yourself "away" from the Workshop, not just sitting in the Workshop. I just though the rewards were an incentive to actually help defend it yourself too.

Okay thanks for the help guys. I guess I will have to this workshop thing, because I really do want that gas station sign just like I also really want that Red Rocket bubble that came with an exploding rocket sign and another better looking garage door and a RR jumpsuit. Hopefully that bundle cones back.
Patchup May 22, 2020 @ 11:36am
You should be able to get a free teleport to your own claimed workshop. So other than interrupting your current mission, it is easy to get to the defend event. Easy exp and rewards. Plus workshops have resources to grab. Lead, concrete, black titatnium. etc.

I just took over and defended Gorge Junkyard, and the only plan I got was for small letters. Is it different for other workshops, and if so which one do I need to do to get the gas station sign plan?

It's random, there is no guaranteed drop from any of them.

I am hot having any luck with this I am getting plans for things I already have, and some other plans for things I didn't that are kinda cool no gas sign yet.
I missed that Red Rocket bundle with a RR exploding sign and RR garage door and RR jumpsuit was taken off earlier than it was supposed to from the Atomic Shop so now the only thing to try to get is that gas station sign plan.

Unfortuante nature of this RNG heavy design, sorry you arent having any luck, and I heard the door in that bundle is bugged so they took it down until they could fix it.
