Does [4:8:2000] login error mean we've all been banned?

A google search shows that error code has been used for mass bans in the past. I know that today's maintenance was to fix a vending machine glitch that cheaters were using, but have they banned all of us by mistake? I'm a Fallout 1st user, I don't even use vending machines!

Edit- Restarting Steam seems to have fixed the login error.

Dude I've literally got the same thing and can't even get onto the bethesda site, so glad I'm not the only one.

Oh good, they know about it... literally crapped myself I've never even tried to attempt to cheat on the game.. only level 32 and just enjoying the quests Haha.

Bethesda did a maintenance patch regarding a vending machine exploit. On their site it said they're trying to fix it.

This whole maintenance patch caused this wave of people not being able to login, no one's banned. Just unable to login, the joys of Bethesda.

R E S T A R T S T E A M C L I E N T ... ... .... when ever a game outside of valve titles updates its suggested to RESTART the client.
i had this error restarted steam just now and i am playing on my private server....

if you use mods. go cry on the nexus you chose to modify your files and caused your own issues.

if you restart the client remove all mods and fix all files youve changed and still get this error. you might be banned. make a support ticket at bethesdas support dept.

Nor did Restarting my steam client do anything.

It's most likely the authentication server. If its having issues then it would cause this exact scenario where some can login and others can't. Very common issue in online games
