How to Enter Bunker?

I'm on the final quest "I am Become Death", and those toilet-elevators down into the bunkers don't do anything when I press the button, except for turning green.
I read that I have to be a "general", but where do I see my standing with that faction? I assumed being done with the pre-quest I was ready to go for a nuke?

You get access after finishing the enclave missions

you have not learned how to use the silos yet. have to earn your ranks with the faction to get into the proper areas.
spoilers isnt my style so .. if you knwo where the faction is hq at then youre on the right track. if you dont have access to that faction...youve a bit of a run back and forth to gain said access.
a few fetch quests. some tom foolery with robots and you can start to then earn ranks to gain knowledge on how to launch.

Nah, Not that much of a back and forth.

he has the ranks too. Ohterwise he wouldntr be on that quest.

Look on the map for places that are called Site Alpha, Site Beta or Site Charlie. Assuming you have the nuclear key allready. You're allready a general since you completed Officer on Deck

There should be aterminal in whitespring bunker that tracks such stuff for you.

On what step of the quest are you etxactly? Mandatorys are Excplore command center, complete nuclear training tuto, speak to modes, acquitre nuc keycard, code peace, search for archives. You can track main quest and press C to see where you go on map.

This happens when you get your knowledge from youtube instead of in-game experience.

The toilet elevators are a one way out of the silo room. You have to use the elevator in Site Charlie, alpha or bravo and go through the hoops required to fire the nuke.
