Nerf assaultron laser beams
It has always been OP in the other games and this game is no exception. Out of all my deaths, the laser beams from these mofos account for more than half of them. Just got killed in 10 secs while at full health by a level 24...I'm lvl 32 :steamfacepalm:

They don't need a nerf, they need a fix.

Currently Assaultron Laser Beams don't have any consistency with the charge phase. Sometimes the Assaultron can just laserbeam infinitely.

I will admit though, it never gets old watching a single assaultron cremate 20 bloody builds in a row and then Saunter off saying "Target eliminated"

Instead of nerfing them how about you up your game. I find them challenging but not OP. Use your noggin instead of your entitlement sense.

No matter where I shoot them and how much dodging I do the laser beam has perfect accuracy and charges fast. "Git gud" doesn't help much against an enemy like that.

I find the beam to be a pain in the ass. At least force the damn thing to stop running when it fires it. Feels a bit cheap that they can sprint up to you while firing the beam and have a fairly long melee range.

I also have an issue every now and then where the beam is invisible sometimes and so you can't even tell it's being fired at you until you're dead.

Assaultrons are by far my least favorite enemy in the entire game.

Assaultron's are just bad news and it does not matter what level you are. I prefer to keep my distance and snipe at them. Getting up close and personal is a receipt for disaster with them. You better have one finger on a Stimpak key when you tangle with them.

I thought the early Wayward quest where you need to "retrieve" Polly should make it more obvious - taking out assaultron's limb and / or leg do help taking them down easily. That's a missing opportunity, Bethesda.

I think the problem is it really isn't a fair mechanic - since there is no consistency when it shoots.
If you could predict the shot when it will happen by it having 3 lights light up you know when to dodge. Otherwise having a random high damage beam really isn't fair for the player.

With that said best way to kill an assault tron is shoot its legs until one is destroyed.

The only time I killed one was by cheesing it with a sniper by using the staircase inside of a building as cover. He didn't advance forward that much so it helped minimize damage to myself. Now I find them out in the open where they are extremely difficult to kill since there is little to no cover.

You can predict when the shot will fire by the audio of the energy buildup. Take advantage of that to get behind a solid object. Walls, trees, rocks, whatever. Then hit it in the cooldown period between chargings.

But yeah, hitting it in the legs is the best way to solve the running around problem.

OR

You can put on your best power armor, load up with a Minigun, Gatling Laser or Plasma Gatling, keep a finger on the stimpak key just in case and you should be able to go mano-on-mano eye to eye and win the fight.

The problem arises when there is more than one... Keep that finger on the stimpak key.

Lol! I'll be sure to remember that during project paradise when amidst the chaos,an assaultron spawns and snipes from the balcony. Seriously, they are pretty bad, not unbeatable, but insanelyOP even at high levels of resistance. My only saving grace is richochet actually deflects the beam, but it works in such a way that it gives me a second of invulnerability each time it reflects.

i just tank em with power armor with super stimpack and shot em in the legs.
Stardustfire May 11, 2020 @ 10:32pm
finger on the stimpack key? why? my armor does that itself when needed, or just use the Perk for that, makes surviving so much easyer :steammocking:
seriously, crying nerv only because you are not able to dodge? like already mentationed, listen to the charge sound, look at the animation (the assaultrons lean back first before they charge of the beam) and go behind cover when the beam itself starts. wait a second or two, leave cover and continue dmg the robot.....
compared to the dmg burst in FO4 the FO76 Assaultron Beam is a laughing matter. in FO4 it was instant death, so maybe i just got enove experaince how to handle Assaultrons correct.

why dont you just cripple the head of the assaultron? I for my part never had a problem with the laser always destroy the head and if that is not possible destroy the legs cant move for ♥♥♥♥ when they are crawling around

"Git gud" absolutely applies here. There's a definite strategy to dealing with assaultrons.

Firstly, you aim for the legs to cripple their mobility, then you can fire on their head or torso as they crawl, and dip into cover when they fire the beam.
