The Enlighten bug with washed out/glowing textures.
Has Bethesda said anything about fixing this issue? I'm so sick of my floors having a white glow to them, especially some of the floors in the atom shop. Using bEnableEnlighten=0 does help get rid of the glow but it makes other things look off.

If you don't know what i'm talking about, here it is on and off.

bethesda , they have no pride and it shows,
they had to know how bad it looked and choose to do nothing, if it is amd driver related they could have informed amd and had them patch it with a hot fix before this do was released,
but they did nothing , they dont care, bethesda is okay with releasing broken junk,
they have no pride and it shows, it literally shows
Yeah, no idea how this got past PTS and internal testing. It's a pretty major issue affecting a lot of players.

they had to know , they did nothing about it , and their lips are sealed , not a word , they have no intention of fixing it because they just dont care

no zebras here, but i stomped out the glare problem, for me it wasnt ground funiture, it was the astronaut ladys suit, glared so hard it was nearly blinding.

here is what i changed:
bVolumetricLightingEnable=0 against the glare
bDoDepthOfField=0 against the nonefocused blur effect

bUseWaterDisplacements=0
bUseWaterRefractions=0
bUseWaterReflections=0
this 3 against the moving shadows that sometimes appear in gasclouds and make the game look total wack, the shadows are mostly from water reflections nearby, but the effect itself shoud only be on static objects like walls 8where it looks ok) , not on clouds and than moving when teh player does, that just looks wrong and psychodelic.

oh and i use a 1070 GTX TI Duo in SLI

your problem (the stripes) coud maybe originate from a bad Shader so gamble with this may help you?
bScreenSpaceReflections

I have tried all of these and many more settings. The only thing that works for me is turning off Enlighten.

If they didn't care they would have never released more content for this game and given up on it. I think they do care, their priorities on what needs to be done first is just wrong.

Old thread but I found out how to turn it off amongst other things:

;Fixes stuff in the OP without disabling all specular maps.
[Enlighten]
bBindEmissiveEnvironmentToLightUpdate=1
bEnableEnlighten=1
bEnableEnlightenEnvMaps=0

[Interface]
bIsUIFanfareEnabled=0 ;Assuming this disables the dramatic effects when clicking UI stuff
iMainMenuStoreState=0 ;Disable Atom Shop completely

[General]
DisableSplash=1 ;Stops atom shop prompt when launching the game.

;Set custom delays to do stuff 0.4 = 400ms
[Controls]
fEnterWorkshopDelay=0.4
fPipboyLightDelay=0.3
fPowerArmorExitDelay=0.4
fThrowDelay=0.3

;Gib players
[Combat]
bdisablePlayerDismemberments=0

;Better map zoom
[MapMenu]
fMapLocalHeight=150000.000000
fMapMaxZoomScale=2.000000
fMapMinZoomScale=0.234567

;Disable Bloom
[Display]
fAdaptativeLightEvMax=0.000000
fAdaptativeLightEvMin=0.000000
fAdaptativeLightMinDistanceThreshold=0.000000
fAdaptativeLightOffset=0.000000
fIBLensFlaresAnaint=0.000000
fIBLensFlaresAnaintfar=0.000000
fIBLensFlaresBloomint=0.000000
fIBLensFlaresGlobalIntensity=0.000000
fIBLensFlaresLrange=0.000000

Found all of these here: https://pastebin.com/y8nKA9WE

Dont use stuff from nexusmods or other mods.
I got banned for that
You might want to try this mod : Contemporary Wood Floors bundle https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout76/mods/555?tab=files , the roofbeam ceilings one is great too!

Im not sure what this is doing exactly.

Everything is just as bright and shiny as before still.

Is there a way to disable most of the shiney glow on everything (even things that shouldnt be shiny, look wet and shiny), while still keeping the water visible?

If water is not reflecting properly you have to delete your prefs and let the game remake it. Don't edit anything (or do, if you figure out what messes it up post it here). For some reason the game breaks reflections when editing falloutprefs. (at least in my testing recently.)

What becoming invisible is directly tied to using this setting:

bEnableEnlighten=0

That setting removes a lot of the extra brightness on everything, but makes water not render at all.

I agree fixes are so low on their priorities there have been bugs and Issues for years unless its hacking or cash shop nothing ever changes.. kinda like war.

They have the worst servers in an online game i think i've ever dealt with..

very late for this, but i've found a solution.
what makes everything so shiny is the color of the sky, cue the blue tint of objects.

add to your Fallout76Custom file the following line:
[Enlighten]
bEnableSkyEmittance=0

this will disable the impact of sky lumminance to the textures and everything will render like the interiors.

this will also make the shadows darker, but honestly i like this change and have not researched on how to brighten them back up

Honestly I find it too dark and almost makes textures look flat. Turing off enlighten all together gives better results to me. Thanks for giving people more options though. Kinda sad this still hasn't been fixed after all these years...

Did anybody ever find a solution to this?

Disabling Enlighten actually confers some major visual improvements by disabling that weird backlighting effect on players and world geometry, but the fact that disabling it completely removes water is boggling my mind. It would be perfect if you could disable enlighten without removing or bugging water.
