Are mutation serums permanent?
There are mutation serums you can buy with the Enclave but they are super expensive. I want to buy one but I'd like to know if they are permanent? If you take a Rad-X, will it disappear?

Also, can you buy 2 serums and use both at the same time?

They are permanet as long as you dont use Radaway.
With the perk card starched genes rad away wont remove them anymore.
You can have as many mutations as you like.
Rad-x will temporarily suppress your mutation.

Buy them from players they are much cheaper.

So if I have the Starched Genes perk maxed out and then take a mutation serum, it will be permanent? I don't want to spend thousands of caps and then accidentally remove the serum.

serums are tricky. if you have starched genes take it off. drink the serum REPUT starched genes and dont take rad x rad x suppresses mutations. AFTER starched genes is on radaway is ok.
class freak supresses negative effects of serums and mutations.
you can stack one of each serum. what side effects all those ups and downs in all of the various things these serums effect idk ive only used some not all.

rad x = bad for mutations
rad-a-way is ok if starched genes.
otherwise you drink serum and take rad cleaning drug, you lose expensive serum.
starched genes is there for when you want to keep a mutation for as long as you want.

Look around at player vendors, people sell mutations for 300-400 caps. They are listed under Miscellaneous, so look for camps with a lot of listing in that category.

With the Starched Genes perk maxed out, will those spraying decontamination arches remove the serum? That's not Rad-X but they also do remove radiation.

They remove radiation, but not the mutations.

No.
As long you have starched gene equipped radaway wont remove them. Without starched gene equipped radaway will remove mutations.

Buy them from Player vendors the price is between 300-1000 caps for one mutation.

to clarify. starched genes exists to allow players to KEEP mutations for as long as they want.
as long as you have it in your active perk card load out you can take rads away. rad x surpresses rad absorbtion and debuffs mutations.

idk about the mire natural rad meds, but arches are fine
IF starched genes in in your active loadout.

class freak is another perk in the same special for handling mutations

Holy cow, it's 4600 caps for a serum and 23,000 caps for the recipe. Are there are alot of players selling it? I took a quick look around and I didn't see any in my server.

If you can keep the serum's effect permanently, then I guess there'd be no need to buy the recipe, right?

If anyone wants to sell me a mutation serum at a reasonable price, send me a private message with your in-game name.
Amanandhisdog May 7, 2020 @ 5:12pm
they are in the misc listing on the map when you are looking for a camp to visit.

if you have the means to make them YOU can sell them for 400 to 1000 caps :)

there are chems and drinks that buff the chr special above the number youve assigned and that effects ROBOT vendor prices including MODUS.

storytime: i played since beta. back then, we had 200 caps on each factions vendor bots. and there were 7 spread across the map. had to visit each one daily to get as many caps as possible and inbetween craft or gather to craft or loot enough to flip to the bots...
between buying plans and maybe ammo or hp items ... learning to cook and sleep and play a musical instrument along with managing just 400 units of stash. it could take a player a bit of time to one get access to the serum vendor, 2 save enough caps to buy one. and three know BEFORE hand not to use rad drugs after drinking... i was in a nuke zone and popped a rad away didnt have starched genes on.
had the serums i bought 3 for like 2 hours before i washed them away.

it happens....you forget to put it back on or move a special point out of that special to another and that card gets taken off...

good luck!

Yeah, what Faedrill said.
Just yesterday I got 4 Serums for 450 each. Now I just need to level up enough to get Class Freak (which removes most of the downsides of your Mutations) and I'll be set to become an Atomic Superman and/or Abomination. Just remember to take the Starched Genes Perk Card out first.
