Can't Link Steam account to Bethesda.net?
Every time I try to link my Steam account to my Bethesda.net account, it says 'account linking failed'. I can link other accounts to it but not my Steam account.

I messaged support about this and this is what they gave me 5 minutes later:

"Greetings,

Thank you for contacting Bethesda Customer Support!

The error message "Account linking failed. Please retry or contact Customer Support for assistance." appears when you are trying to link a Bethesda.net Account to an account that already has a Bethesda.net Account associated with it. You can check what your Bethesda.net Account is linked to by visiting the Linked Accounts page of your account on the Bethesda.net site.
If you wish to change the Bethesda.net Account associated with an external service (like Twitch or Facebook), you will need to go to the Linked Accounts section of the correct Bethesda.net Account and use the "Unlink" option.

If you are still experiencing issues with linking or unlinking your Bethesda.net account, please let us know by replying to this email so that we may continue to assist.

Thank you for your continued interest and support!

Kind Regards,
Bethesda Customer Support"

I have never linked my Steam account to Bethesda.net before. They haven't responded to my inquiry either. I'll update this forum post if they manage to unlink my Steam account from the supposed other account but I don't expect a reply until mid-next week. I'll keep you guys posted.

I don't know how to check what my old bethesda account is linked to. How do i do it? People are saying you can unlink it from the old bethesda game, btw, i think it is linked to skyrim special edition. Can someone tell me how to unlink the old game and link to steam? Thanks in advanced!

Yes, I'm in the same boat. I have no idea which account it was linked to :(

Go to bethesda.net and go to login section then I forgot my password and I forgot my username. Try it with your old Emails that you dont or barely use. You should get email from them to finalise your account. Thats how i found my old account.

Try again later, site may be under heavy load because many ppl are trying to link their account. My account was already linked somehow. Maybe done it before on another game.
Quake Champions, Fallout 4, Skyrim SE... it all could link it. So highly possible.

Yep, can confirm. I had linked my Steam account with another Bethesda.net account, it was for an Android game called The Elder Scrolls Blades, it was like a year ago and I had totally forgot about it.

1 week and 2 tickets; I have received no response from a human being. I think they just threw my ticket out tbh.

Had linked before all this, but guessing its so "Bethesda" dont have to give free copies to all. So when timer is out. You gonna need to buy it again if you want it on steam..

"It just works!"

I would say it was just stupid action made by people more then that. Most of people who have that issue, most of thse I know of. Are either not telling it, or were playing some Bethesda.net connected game before. If they did work only with one account a lot of these problems wouldn't be visible and only true issues with account connection would be seen here.

It makes it only harder as a lot of people who didn't use head before, now spam Bethesda's support slowing everything down.

I linked the platforms for Doom Eternal a while ago, back then "it just worked" after a bunch of errors and maybe a couple of hours of fiddling.
No wonder there's a way they made it worse.

commenting "same here" doesnt help anyone but make people scroll past and lose time.

if you are having trouble linking your steam account, open a Bethesda game on steam and connect to Creation club. That should fix the issue.

OP pls mark the answer so people dont have to scroll past 5 pages.

Speak for yourself. It helps me know that I'm not alone in trying to get this sorted.

Speak for yourself. Who cares if you are the only one having a problem? What a logic: its not a problem anymore if others also have the problem. L M F A O. it helps? HOW? By using the forum wrong?

Forums are meant to find answers, if there is no answer yet, you subscribe to it and youll get notified, instead of bunch a bullcrap from kiddos who doesnt even know how the internet works.

Why are you so mad? Both your posts are pretty aggressive. Perhaps you should seek counseling with your anger issues. That isnt normal human behavior and indicates an underlying problem.

Not to mention your above solution doesnt fix the problem and should not be marked as a chosen solution.

I have never linked my Steam to Bethesda net before, and the process worked fine for me. Instantly linked my accounts when I was prompted to sign in to Steam. As the support worker told you, the only way you get this error is if the Steam Account you are trying to link is already linked to a different Bethesda Net Login. You can tell the support nicely that you don't recall linking your Steam Account to Bethesda Net and is there any way they can help or assist you... but I find most of these Game Company support systems are really bad. Bethesdas is kinda bad.
